Bottled. Hazy nutbrown colour, not much head, but a bit white foam. Very sour aroma and flavour. My first thought when having this was that unless knowing what I drink I would have guessed for a Cantillon. Very pleasant, refreshing and smooth lambic.

First rating
(Bottle at Delirium Cafe in Gothenburg) Shady brown color, small white head. Very sour scent. And also very sour taste. No bitterness at all! But still for someone like me that really likes the sour ones, it’s great.

Bottle: barnyard, hay, grassy, lemony, not very sour ,vingery and dry like some other gueze, some spicy notes, some cirtusy bitterness, floral, some caramel sweetness underneath, rich, complex, refershing, perfect for a hot summer day.

This gueze is strictly, IMO, just a beginners gueze. Not to say it’s not enjoyable because it is but when I think of a proper gueuze I think of old leather, funk, cheese, barnyard and this didn’t really carry any of those characteristics. Aroma was vinegar, acidic and slightly moldy. Appearance was a murky, goldish/orange color. Mouthfeel was mild somehow, medium-bodied at best. Flavors were drinkable with apples, champagne, and slightly lemony with none of the trademark kick-you-in-the-nuts tartness/bitterness I’ve come to expect. It was mildly tart, so it gets an average rating. Overall, a decent beer to start someone off sampling a gueuze, but far, far from being the top dog.

[Bottle] Amber coloured with a small head. Sourish aroma of green apples. Well balanced acidic apple and rhubarb flavour. Some sweetness in the background.

Bottle at Delirium. This seems to me the most balanced of all gueuzes I’ve tried so far. A lot of character, but not too much, makes this very enjoyable. Delightful. Re-rate 20070712. Bottled at Belgobaren. All the elements are there, tartness, barnyard funk. No sign of the 8%abv

Pours a lightly hazy copper with a 1/4 inch frothy ivory head. Head hangs in there for a bit but dissipates for the most part after a few sips. Smell is funky. Strident brett and barnyard. Sour apple, hints of tart plum. Taste is very different from the aroma, at least in balance. Very dry up front. An even balance of the green apple fruitiness, the barnyard funk, the light sweetness of the malt and the puckering tartness. Then it finishes nice and dry again. Crisp, clean and dry mouth. Exquisite on the tongue. Very nice. Every now anf then you are struck by a brew that is simply subtle, balanced and well crafted. This is one for me. Been wanting to try this for years and it did not dissappoint. Time to get more.
