Cuvée 2004. Bouteille verte de 375 ml, avec bouchon de liège, dégustée au Cheval Blanc (Montréal, QC). Arôme: Odeur de pommes et de foin avec une pointe vinaigrée. Apparence: La couleur est blonde voilée. Présence d’un mince col mousseux et d’une fine dentelle sur le verre. Saveur: Goût de pommes légèrement sûrettes avec une pointes de levures. Durée moyenne de l’arrière goût. Palette: Le corps est moyen avec une texture légèrement vineuse. Faible effervescence en bouche. Arrière goût légèrement sûrette. (Rating #2595)

Bottled 375ml. Vintage 2005. Aroma: Tart with lemon, grapefruit, horse blanket, sorbet, light vinegar, brett and vanilla showing up. Appearance: Murky copper with a tall, nicely remainig lacing white head. Flavor and palate: Deeply refreshing taste. Good sourness. A lot of lemon, brett and grapefruit showing up which are accompanied by horse blanket. Great hops detectable. Some white grapes, vanilla and vinegar sneaking in. Complex. The alcohol is nicely hidden. Long dry finish which is reminiscent of lemon peel, dandelion and grapefruit. Overall impression: A fantastic brew. Beautiful, extremely pleasant and complex.

Bottle thanks to gerrit. Pours a clear orange yellow with a small head. Dirty nose earthy funky on the side of cheese funk. Earthy grainy flavors with citrus, grapefruit rind, and alcohol. Bitter earthy and dirty finish that’s not that enjoyable. The pieces just don’t fit together too well.

375ml 2003 bottle. Pours yellow with little to no lacing. Aroma of green apples, banana, and peach. Nice funk up front with a fairly mellow tart to finish. Very good Geuze.

Tap @ SDBF’09(cask #52). Light orange pour. Definitely the most unique lambic of the day. This was different to the point of weird.

most unique head ever, just a swirl like an oil slick on water. nose of huge paas easter egg kits. flavor expands on the vinegar notes in the aroma with an odd sugar background. nose becomes nearly crystalline and flavor follows. so tart, acidic and quite wine like. sugar elements slows becomes pure crunchy candy tempered with the white vinegar that just wont go away. i have returned to up my score for ’overall’ on this twice since my initial review now, as i continue to be obsessed with my experience last night, a simple 8 oz sample that continues to haunt me.

Bottle at Poechenellekelder in Brussels. Hazy orangish-golden color with a nice white head. Aroma is barnyard, tart citrus fruits, and sour apples. Flavor is funky and tart with a green apples and dry champagne with little bit of malt sweetness to balance. Dry finish and a nice sharp palate and lively carbonation. Solid gueuze.

37.5cl bottle (dated 2005 with an expiry date of 2028 on the label!). A hazy orange beer with an amazingly stable small white head providing excellent lacing. I’m told that this has aromas of "horseblanket" but not being familiar with that particular smell, I’ll just say that the nose has distinct sour lemon and yeasty characteristics. The taste is lemony with those wild yeasts coming through initially but then it becomes sweeter and more fruity with apples, oranges and sulphur coming to the fore. It finishes dry and tart but certainly not sour. The mouthfeel is perfect with a refreshing spritely carbonation. The alcohol is very well hidden inside. It is probably the sweetest and smoothest oude geuze I have ever tasted and I would imagine it would get even better with cellaring. Top marks from me.
