alobar (624), Allentown, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 23, 2008 Big head. Lots of carbonation. Aroma of yeast and apple. Cloudy pale yellow color. Hight tartness and must with some citrus and acid. Todeon (170), Höllviken, Sweden Aug 22, 2008 2003 Bottle. Hazy orange color. Aroma was acidic and citrus dominated. Taste is a bit vinious, champagne and some citrus with plenty of acid. Great beer! esox (102), Oulu, Finland Aug 21, 2008 Orange, a bit hazy beer with a thin white head. Thin but very long lasting lacing. Aroma has yeat and lots of of fermented fruits and berries. At least apples, banana and even fresh cranberries in the finish. Flavor is sour and acidic. Texture is quite carbonated but still surprisingly smooth. Long, sticky finish with fermented berries and fruits. Medium bodied. Quite "heavy" for a geuze because of the fermented elements and relativeli high alcohol content. Alcohol is still totally absent in the aroma. Good stuff! Stine (1329), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA Aug 21, 2008 Vintage 2003. Cork blast. Peach flesh pour. Calcium, stale pineapple, cheese, champagne vinegar aroma. Some residual, distantly spicy sweetness. Hushed.
Flavor of hard water and sour apples. Bits of melon rinds, and stinky funk like compost air hanging in a humid breeze. Bretty, dried out, leathery, and farm-like; traditional, appreciable simplicity. Firm acidity, and a mild stone fruit brightness, softening.
Somewhat full in the mouth, with a scattered prickly texture, like insects. Finishes quickly, with a grassy bitterness and gravelly cheese rinds. Far from a starter kit example, but lacking the subtlety of something more advanced, it’s satisfying on the simplest of levels. minch25 (171), Columbus, Ohio, USA Aug 20, 2008 Golden peach yellow color, frothy head. Aroma: grape, brett, apple orchard. Bitter, tannic - grape skin. Not so sour. Spritzy. Short finish - bitter - old hops, wood. Slightly metallic/sulphuric. Good, not great.
