Commercial Description:
Geuze, a mixture of old and young Lambic. The young Lambic is added to cause a refermentation in the bottle making for a delightfully sparkling and dry beer that has been likened, in all seriousness, to Champagne.

Sampled at the 2008 Crescent Moon Extreme Beerfest. Pours a cloudy gold with a white head. The aroma is a curious mixture of cardboard and orchids. Perhaps a bit of potted meat product in the aroma as well. Thin body. Mildy acidic throughout and this acid extends all the way through the finish. Not so much battery acid as you cannot drink it though. A drying citrus helps to keep things drinkable.

Bottle. Pours a hazy gold with a thick off-white head. Aroma is funky, sour, horsey, cidery, citrus, a bit cheesy. Flavors are substantial tart citrus, a little salty, cidery, maybe a little wheat and bread. Carbonation was soft but substantial.

12oz bottle. Pours a hazy, golden-brown color; off-white head with solid retention and lacing. Lots of funk, horseblanket, and salt in the aroma; cheesy and some citrus, but a bit too much salt for me; a touch of metal. Medium mouthfeel: plenty of tart citrus, salt, and metallic yellow fruits upfront; definitely shows a fair amount of authentic-like-lambic complexity, but it just isn’t overly pleasant to drink: again, salty and metallic and just a bit overripe; sharp citrus and carbonation. Medium finish, showing citrus, bread, and some salt.

Courtesy of kmweaver. Hazy pale body with a large off-white head. Dirty, funky nose with lots of cheese, plenty of citrus, some horseblanket and yogurt. The flavor is moderately sour, lightly sweet with grapefruit peel, melon rind, salty blue cheese, lemon and grainy malt. Medium body is round with moderate carbonation. Finish is long with lots of pithy bitterness.

Bottle. Clear medium orange color with a large, frothy, excellent lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is light to moderate sour, vinegar - citric - grapy, wheat, wood. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate acidic, sour with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is watery, carbonation is soft. (280208)

This beer looks like piss in the glass. When I hold it up to my nose, it reminds me of the time I really had to take a dump on a train to Praha and opened up the bathroom door only to smell the most vile stink of feces known to man. Unfortunately, the taste doesn’t get much better. It tastes like someone managed to extract concentrated diarrhea then inject it into a solution of gasoline. Bad stuff!

(Bottle, Akkurat, Stockholm, brewing season 2003-04) Golden amber colour, slightly hazy, with frothy white head. Acidic, fruity nose with notes of lemon, green apples, stable and barnyard. Acidic, tart taste with notes of lemon, green apples, yellow plums and autumn leaves. Harsh finish with a dry bitterness. Lots of carbonation, giving it a sharp prickly mouthfeel. Medium body, very dry and tart. Lovely gueuze, and very much in line with the style.

Hazy golden pour with a large but rapidly diminishing head. Aroma is citric, funky, sour, and a bit woody. Flavor has a nice funky sourness with a bit of nuttiness from the wood. Tart, but not overly so - smooth and highly drinkable. A solid gueuze.
