[Vintage 2001-2002]
Pours a clear pale golden amber. An impressively nice, creamy white head form and stays for an incredible amount of time - considering this is a spontaneous fermented bottle. No lacing. Aroma is funky, light fruity, some barnyard, men generally rather mild. Fair mouthfeel that dries out nicely. Flavours contain light caramel, subdued tartness, wood and a nice fruitiness. Not my favourite Geuze, but better than most Boon offerings. hughie (3057), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England

That slightly vegetal champagne aroma with a curious hint of tomato juice. Sour grapefruit taste like a very dry cider, with a sharp bitter finish. Pwn3d (1068), Manhattan, New York, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 19, 2008 Bottle reads Geuze Boon. Pours a hazy dirty orange color with speckels which resemble black pepper. The bodies texture in the glass is so collected it is almost like egg yolk. Every debris moves in harmony with a shake of the glass. Nose is a bit of skunkiness with fruits, citrus, and champagne. mouth is crisp and sour, with noticable amounts of apples that finish dry. It really does resemble aspects of chapagne, cider, and beer all in one. This went very well with pasta. bhensonb (4274), Woodland, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 17, 2008 Bottle as Geuze Boon. Lightly funky, citrusy aroma. Hazy orange color with a very respectable white head. Thinnish in body with fizzy/creamy carbonation. The flavor is very tart citrus developing into funk. The finish goes a bit more earthy, then sour hits the rear edges of the tongue. Really dry. Indeed it does suggest a yeasty champagne, but I’m not sure I’d want this much sour in my champers. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 7, 2008 Bottle thanks to Axilla. Poured hazy golden orange with a white foamy head. Aroma is nice; a little funk, and citrus. Flavors of lemons, orange, a slight mustyness. The aroma was promising, but the taste was certainly less tart then I was hoping for. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 3, 2008 Pours hazy golden with small short lasting head. Sour aroma with clean brett charateristics. Flavor is clean sour with grapefruit, wood and barnyard notes. Maybe to clean. Lacks character. faroeviking (6042), BjórtjóðveldiðBjórheimBjórsins, Faroe Islands
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 2, 2008 Bottle. Brewing season 2001-2002. Pours a hazy deep golden orange colour with a fast diappearing head. Mouldy, sour, fruity and woody aroma. The flavour is tart with a nice not so typical lambiek sourness, good bitterness, some ripe fruits, staple, citrus and some wood. A rather "mild" lambiek. beastiefan2k (1601), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 1, 2008 Personal "New Years Night of 1000 Gueuzes" continued with this best before 2/12/2025, so almost 3 years old, 375mL cork and wire bottle. The color is more orange than golden (more so than the gueuzes before it) and hazy. Aroma is light vinegar with some barnyard and faint sweet rubber. Taste is light on sour and acidity for an Oude Gueuze, and actually a bit sweeter than most gueuzes. This seems to take away from the dryness. Also seems to add to a bit of slickness in the mouthfeel, which has a lightly spiky feel. Least interesting and complex of the Oude Gueuzes so far.
