Commercial Description:
Geuze, a mixture of old and young Lambic. The young Lambic is added to cause a refermentation in the bottle making for a delightfully sparkling and dry beer that has been likened, in all seriousness, to Champagne.

12.7 oz bottle purchased at South Bay Drugs and Liquor. This lambic created a violent glowing yellow in my flute and looked similar to a chemistry experiment in a beaker. The nose was a sour fruit smell with a notice of alcohol. In the flavor, more or less the same thing, but I would be able to get more detailed. The sourness detected is similar to a unripe lemon or a juicy green lime and leaves behind the smallest aftertaste of bitter salt. From the description I’ve given this almost sounds like a tequila or margarita. Also, I won’t forget to mention the very minor fruit flavor of green apple, pear and grape, although, very complicated once I swallow the mouthful and then I’m left with a state of confusion.

Cloudy orange/golden colour, with a huge dense white head. Aroma has barnyard, citrus and apple. Flavour is mostly sour apple and lemon. Sparkling and refreshing. Finishes dry.

Bottle, de Kring, Lembeek. Pale gold, good-sized white head, well carbonated. Tight, punchy tart up front, but the finish is dry, funky. Aroma is class geuze: apples, tart, citrus. Good, but lacking some complexity when compared to the blenders. Very drinkable, could quaff the heck out of this one on a hot summer day.

0.375 l bottle, 2003-2004 vintage. Golden-copper color with surprisingly thick and persistent head. Sour, refreshing, sulphury, bready, lemony, grapefruity and perfumed aroma. Acidic, grapefruity and lemony flavor with hints of cork.

2001 vintage small bottle. No pop on the cork, but slight carbonation- wierd spotty cobwebby foam and sporatic lace. Murky coppery brown body. Mustly, dirty, dusty, earth, lactic, funk, and some light cherry pit aroma. Sharp lactic and acetic acid flavor especialy upfront, and even burns through to the back of my nose like a strong vinegar. Sharp cheesy flavor, some ammonia, farmhouse funk, tons of lacto and acetobacter bacteria. Moderately sour in the finish with some more cherry and cherry pit astringency. Good drying bitter, and sour mouthfeel. Pretty good queze overall. Unique for sure.

slightly hazy dark golden with a white head that settles into a thin film. aroma...eh...dry grassy aroma with a little lemon and apple. its good i just dont get that intense horse blanket feeling that you get from most lambics...it almost reminds me of a pilsner. tart sour apple with a hint of lemon...nice sweet backbone with light bitter dry grassy notes. dry very dry tart sour apple and lemon finish with light dry bitter grassy notes...hay? light to medium body sparkling carbonation. at first i didn’t like this beer at all because it is so different from the other geuzes i have had (hanssens cantillon) but after drinking the bottle it is growing on me. i will have to try this one again.
