Commercial Description:
Geuze, a mixture of old and young Lambic. The young Lambic is added to cause a refermentation in the bottle making for a delightfully sparkling and dry beer that has been likened, in all seriousness, to Champagne.

Bottle, 75cl corked. Hazy, golden/straw body, with a large, lasting white head. Quite weak on the nose, but there’s barnyard, citrus and some yeast. The flavor is too bitter I think, yet quite sour and citrusy, with barnyard-notes and yeast-hints. Medium body.Long, grapefruity finish. A decent beer, but not my favorite gueuze. Rating: 6-4-6-3-12-3.2. (070526)

Bottle, 37.5cl corked. A hazy, orange-golden beer with a minimal off-white head. Citrus, barnyard, horse blanket and a wheaty touch in the aroma. The flavor has a little sweetish touch, but is still nice and tart, with citrus and barnyard. A quite mild gueuze, easy to drink, but still gueuze. (080926)

Bottled. Beer is clear, light/medium caramel brown with a small, white, frothy, diminishing but mostly lasting head.
The aroma is piquantly earthy funky lean. Malty with a light note of toasted grain; Hoppy with moderate notes of lemon, lemon zest, herb; Yeasty with a light note of basement, heavy notes of feral horse blanket, barn yard; trace/light note of green apple, trace of peppery oak.
The flavor is lightly/moderately sweet, moderately/heavily acidic, lightly bitter with a long, moderately bitter, moderately acidic, lightly sweet finish.
The body is light, the texture is watery and the carbonation is fizzy.

My first Gueuze and already surprised as I wasn’t anticipating the cork to blast off like a rocket as soon as I opened the wire....POP!!. Very fizzy expanding head as it pours into the glass releasing a very strong fruity apple aroma. Hazy golden yellow color looks like cider. Very effervescent. Oww, a bit sour, apple flavor, mild smoothness folllows, a bit of a quick tartness then calms to bitter apple. Tartness fades quick then leaves a bland apple taste in the palate. Interesting, different. Not bad, I am just an IIPA & stout guy.

Bottle sampled. Pours blush with a large off-white head. Aroma of citrus, fruit, and slightly acidic. The flavor is fruity, citrus, slight sourness, with a dry finish. Moderate carbonation, and a good body.

Bottle (2003-2004) in the yard before BBQ. Unclear light amber - small tight white head. Aroma: gooseberries, barnyard, vinegar. Taste: Gooseberries, mild vinegar, light sweetness, barnyard, light horsey, "hoppy" -> flowery -> elderflowers. A nice mild Geuze.

2003/04 bottling. Pours slightly hazy gold with a hint of orange highlites. Has a medium sized, white head. Aroma is pleasnet from the get-go. Fruity and tart, lemon, and Earth tones. Noticeably tart, but not overpowering. Refreshing fruits like lemon, and a little cherry. The Earth tones are preseant in the flavor as well, but linger in the background. Finishes dry and a little sour. Medium body. Constant bubbling is reminiscent of champagne, but I wouldn’t say the flavor is all that similar. Refreshing and light, well brewed.
