Commercial Description:
Geuze, a mixture of old and young Lambic. The young Lambic is added to cause a refermentation in the bottle making for a delightfully sparkling and dry beer that has been likened, in all seriousness, to Champagne.

(Bottled) Hazy golden color with a medium, bubbly but lasting head. Almost sweetish, fruity-earthy aroma. Fruity, very acidic, moderately tart and dry flavor with wheat and hints of honey. Dry and acidic, but also a bit syrupy palate with lively carbonation. A quite easy but balanced gueuze. Too acidic for me, but yeast makes it much smoother and more enjoyable.

500 ml bottle, from BevMo LaJolla. Pours medium amber, slightly hazy with a fluffy white head. Dry and champagney aroma, wet wool, along with herbal and floral notes - like a damp, flower speckled hillside in Golden Gate park. Astringent and puckering, funky with sour fruits, little to no residual sugars, lemon peel, cedar bark, quince and bitter herbs. Light body and tingly carbonation.

Gueuze is still hard to rate. I dont know if I like them or not. They are too special. Looking great, amber, a bit unclear, big white head, big bobbles, lasting and lacing. Sulfur and acetic acid is real preasent in the aroma, sharp. Flavor is bitter, no sweetness to mildend the impression. Palate is a bit thin.

bottle. Aroma: dustiness, light yeast, white grapes, lemon, some cheesy funkiness. Appearance: Deep gold in color and clear. Head was off-white, full and rocky. Some clumpy lacing. Flavor: Nice sourness up front with a bit of lemon in the taste. Strong woodiness. Some hay and grass with some light funk. Palate: Light bodied. Lively carboantion. Finish was almost champagne-like in its dryness. Overall: My first gueuze in quite a while, and my first one rated here. Pretty nice overall. Nice sourness and funk. Good dry finish. Maybe not for everyday, but this is a good champagne replacement.

12 oz bottle. Nice cloudy golden color, lively white head. Nice aroma, cobwebs, cheese, light funk, some yeast. A touch of sweetness in the flavor rounds it out. It doesn’t have that massive punch like a Cantillon, but it’s just sour enough to keep me happy. Pretty nice.

On tap at Belgian Beer Weekend, Brussels: Poured orange/yellow with a smallish white fizzy head. Subtle bubblegum aroma with light funk. Flavor is mildly sour with a bit of bitterness. For the first beer of the day, this was quite refreshing and went down very well.

[Bottled at Vinens Verden] Well balanced. Has earlier tasted it to mussels, which was perfect. Frank Boon makes perfect beers.

(bottle - corked & caged 12 oz) Amber pour with a ton of fizzy white head. Lots of carbonation. Hazy as well. Aroma is is very dry and acidic with hints of yeast and vinous fruits. Very much like champagne. Very dry and sour at the beginning with a dry and smooth middle and lots of wood and grass at the finish. Very bitter and warming, just like champagne.
