Commercial Description:
Geuze, a mixture of old and young Lambic. The young Lambic is added to cause a refermentation in the bottle making for a delightfully sparkling and dry beer that has been likened, in all seriousness, to Champagne.

No no and no, this is not a beer for me not even if i try to rate it as a Geuze, it is just barnyard and that is it. New rating 27-10-07 I rely like it now

12oz, no date. Pours a clear light orange golden with a large, dissipating off-white head. Big barnyard funk, yeast, granny smith apples, sour cherries, there may be some oak as well. This is my first gueuze, and it reminds me of one of the Jolly Pumpkin beers, which I think is what JP was going for. Anywho, taste is pretty darn acidic, very sour fruits with a fair amount of <!-- i -->dirty?<!-- /i --> bitterness into the very dry finish. It does have the champagne-like tiny bubble carbonation, lighter bodied. Being my first gueuze, this is pretty good, though it may not be a style for my daily drinking. Side note--after you untwist the wire on the bottle, watch out. I was reading the label and the cork blew out, effectively scaring the crap out of my gf and the cat--and me.

A solid gueze here. The taste is dry and sour with grass and hay tastes mixed in. There is an earthy aftertaste that I didn’t care for very much, but overall this is a good brew.

I’ve had many examples of gueuze, my favorite style, and this is my first attempt to rate it. The flavors and aromas are so different from most other styles it’s hard, but here goes. The beer pours perfectly. Orangy-brown under a thick white foamy head with good retention. Aroma is classic gueuze. Apples, and flower aromas. The flowers are nice - they’re milder aromas of rose and orchid, not the powerful perfumes of, say, gardenia. The other classic component of the aroma is the unmistakeable odor of a sweaty animal. Don’t ask which kind, I’m not a farmer or a zookeeper. You can almost taste the aged soft cheese this beer is begging to marry. On the palate, Boon Geuze is medium to light-bodied, highly carbonated, and dry, but not the driest of all time. The flavors roll out quickly. More apple and citrus fruits give way to a very interesting long finish. The fruitiness vanishes abruptly, replaced by what is unmistakably straw/hay and metal. The metallic wave recedes gently at the back of the throat. This beer, like many gueuze lambics I’ve had, is really a complete experience. Boon Geuze has great depth of character, and would be rated higher but for the slightly odd finish.

Pours a cloudy bright orange with a long lasting white head. Aroma is barnyard-like, vanilla and floral, with an acidity in the background. Body is med-light. The flavor shows only med. acidity with a great deal of funk. There is a sort of surface level depth to this beer that puts it quite behind many of the others. There just isn’t the dryness or acidity of a Cantillon or 3Fs (F= fonteinen, not floyds!).

Bottled. Hazy orange colour, mediumsized white foamy head. Sour apples and a bit barnyard in the aroma. Sour fruits in flavour with hints of grass and hay. The aftertaste is dominated by dry fruits and some sourness.

bottle @ moeder de gans te Teuven, Belgium. This was my second gueuze experiment, and I must say that this one has a lot more sourness in its body than the kriek. Poors an orange coloured beer with a beautifull head. Lot’s of aroma’s of grapefruit, and lemon. Flavours of tart, aples and barn yard ending in full sourness.

Pours a hazy orange color with a bit pilloy head. Aroma of musty wood, barn, unripened banana, green grape, and the faintest of cheese (blue?). This beer as with the style is very sour however the sourness doesn’t linger much after the swallow. There is a bit of a well water (sulfur) taste with this one as well. Lighly carbonated. Not bad but still haven’t had enough experience with lambics to compare to others.
