Commercial Description:
Geuze, a mixture of old and young Lambic. The young Lambic is added to cause a refermentation in the bottle making for a delightfully sparkling and dry beer that has been likened, in all seriousness, to Champagne.

Bottle, 375 ml (2001-2002). Hazy orange colour with a large head. Massive aroma of grape fruits, lovely! Fruity and sour flavour, maybe a bit too sour...

Pour is pale ruddy golden with a big bubbled off white head...smell is straw and funky horseblanket with a hint of sour drifting in...taste is definately dry and funky with lots of musty and dirty flavors...some strange bitterness comes on just before the swallow where some faint tartness comes out...decent, bot not amazing...

Average of two experiences with this one: Pour was cloudy yellow to slight orange with a nice head that sustained itself well. Steady stream of bubbles rising in the center of the glass. Aroma was all lemons, tart, and funk. The flavor was much of the same with some tart apples coming through alongside the barnyard-ness. Mouthfeel was somewhat light with decent carbonation.

Hazy golden body with a moderate sized head and good lacing. Aroma was barnyard action, tartness, some minor fruit notes. Not nearly as tart as the other ones I’ve had and it also had a dry sandpapery finish which I wasn’t totally wild about. Still enjoyable though.

Very cloudy orange, creamy champagne head. Nose is citrus, yeast, oak, funky funk. Flavor is musty oak, super dry lemon, yeast, brett attack. Almost saison like in some sense. Very dry - nice but not great. A bit of dry soda in the finish.

Oh my, that amazing aroma of sweaty horses, sourness and who knows what else hit me as the cork popped. Then I poured it and the lovely sour barnyard manure and animal hair came out all over and made my jaw clench in apprehension and happiness. This poured a cloudy light orange with a big white head. Smells like wet dogs and lemons right now as I bring it to my nose. Sweet yet tart flavor that works well with the chunks of cheese o I have beside me. Sour pineapple is floating around in this too. A bit of wood flavor in this along with something dusty. Once again I am hard pressed on how to put my opinions of this beer into words, lambics always do this to me. A nice orange soda and lemonade flavor is coming out of this right now. This is a very resilient head. It is still hanging on halfway through the glass. This does not give me the jaw locking sour that I have gotten from other gauzes. A dusty vanilla and carpet flavor remains in the finish with a light woody vanilla. A nice sour pear flavor is here too. I don’t know why I keep putting “sour” before things here, it should be understood that everything has a bretty sourness to it. Oh well, to the numbers. Bottle. Musty malt and light grapefruit aroma. Cloudy dark amber color with giant, quick collapsing head. Moderately dry, tart musty grapefruit flavor with light slightest hint of sweetness at the end. Long lasting tart aftertaste. This beer is a work of art - exquisitely blended. Has the typical gueuze tart, musty flavor without being overwhelming. Many gueuzes are hard on my stomach and I can only take so much but this one is much easier to drink without being sweet.

04.18.06 355ml bottle dated 13.12.2022, 12347 A08, enjoyed at Eulogy. Hazed pale amber color with small and quickly fading white head. Aromas are funky, footy, cheesy, and a bit on the musty wood side with touches of peach and white grape. Deliciously mild lambic with hints of sweetness, lots of fruit, and woody astringency without being to acidic. Was in the mood for sour and this hit the spot.
