I’ve come to like a more chaotic aroma and taste when it comes to gueuze. Sparkling hazy orange. Aroma is weak and shows faint notes of tart. Decent acidic attack but fades quickly to an sweet apple taste. I was surprised to notice some cinnamon (?) and I admit I’ll have to retry. Below average palate that carries a light body. noelcb (271), Toledo, Ohio, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jan 23, 2006 Pours cloudy orange bronze with big fluffy white head. Faded slow, lots of sticky lace. Aroma is citrus, grapes, vinegar, alcohol, grass, and straw. Flavors were sour, with notes of brut champagne, chardonnay, blueberries, raspberries, malt vinegar, malt sugar, yeast and alcohol. Not as sour as a sour ale but gives a good pucker nonetheless. No bitterness, and a cleansing, refreshing mouthfeel. macguy (146), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 22, 2006 I had an Geuze from Brouwerij Oud Beersel the night before so my review is tainted by that experience. The bottle I had (from a package store in Berkeley California) was not labeled Oude so perhaps it wasn’t the same beer. It had the lovely geuze taste, a lovely aroma and finish. It was a little sharp and new(?) and could probably benefit from 10 years in the bottle. Pailhead (2610), Allen Park, Michigan, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 20, 2006 Updated: Jan 4, 2008Bottle: Best before Febuary (11th?) 2022. Aroma is very musty with moderate sour/tart lemon and grapes, cheese, light orange peel, and hints of woodiness. Pours a lightly hazy orange with a moderate white head with very good retention and okay lacing. Starts moderately lemon sour with some light acidity which then turns to moderate mustiness. Light cheese in the background. Mustiness fades quickly back to a sour finish with some hints of orange peel and a light woody bitterness. Woodiness is the only thing that lingers in the aftertaste. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 17, 2006 Only slightly hazy, oily orangish/light brown appearance, no head/carbonation. Aroma rather muted for geuze, sour grapes, musty oak, some lemon like citrus in the background. Flavor starts with a decnt sour/tart kick, fades rather fast to a musty wood middle, and back to a light sourness in the finish. Nice oily body. Doesn’t score a swell as other lambics, but very enjoyable nonetheless. GarethYoung (1110), Glasgow, Scotland

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 10, 2006 Pours a cloudy dark golden with a huge foamy off-white head. Aroma of tart apples, oak, and sour grapes. Taste is oak, musty yeast, wheat, and cherries. Mildly sour and highly acidic. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and highly carbonated. Dry finish. One of the better lambics I’ve had. I still don’t think I appreciate sour beers too much though. Quinten (974), zaandam, Netherlands
