Commercial Description:
Geuze, a mixture of old and young Lambic. The young Lambic is added to cause a refermentation in the bottle making for a delightfully sparkling and dry beer that has been likened, in all seriousness, to Champagne.

Light apricot body with a large, lacy, light almond head. Very active. Aroma is sour, bread-ie and malty. Flavor is sour with notes of must, barrel, cheese (acidic), green apple and citrus. Palate is crisp and clean.

Bottled 37,5cl, vintage 2000-2001 (BB 07/2023)
My 400th rated Belgian beer.
Golden apple juice yellow/brown color, small creamy head. Quite typical gueuze aroma: sour with barnyard, oak barrel, pepper and rain water then after warming up it has metallic steel aroma. Medium-bodied. Quite dry, but not as sour as eg. Cantillions. Fruity, earthy barnyard flavors, simple basic (with authentic flavor) gueuze, but lacks complexity of wonderful mariage parfait version. (6/3/7/3/12 3.1)
Re-rated vintage 2003-2004
Bright orange color, big white cloudy head. Cellary, fruity aroma. Sour, a bit watery, fruity, balanced. Light - easy to drink "classic gueze". (7/4/8/3/14 3.6)

I’m obviously completely out of step with virtually every other reviewer on this one. Seems unpleasantly sour in an "off" kind of way...musty, rancid, stale, and skunky. The parkling carbonation helped clear the palate between sips and distract from the work I was putting into finishing this one.

Slightly hazy yellow-orange amber. Wet hay, horseblanket, and musty timber aromatics. Husky astringency with a puckering tartness. Fruit peel dryness. Some wood tannin and a certain dustiness in the finish. Mouthfeel is light and rather dry.

The aroma of this beer is exceptional: the typical geuze smell, without any hints of artificial chemicals. The flavour has the sweetness excepted from this type of beer, but has just enough some underlying sourness which becomes more prominent in the finish. Good for hot summer days.

my first gueuze. cork pops out of bottle. pours a nice lively orangish golden color. white head. aroma isnt real inviting, but interesting nonetheless. when colder has a champagne quality, but as it warms becomes more and more sour. at times the sourness is reminicent of tart apple, but other times, it is a very new sensation. not sure where this stands relative to other guezes, but i guess ill just have to try more. i liked it. definately not a typical beer.
