Tart cherries with a musty, sweet aroma. It seems the cherries have died down a bit over the years, but that makes this easier to drink, actually. Sour, cherry, funky, acidic, some wood, as well. Thoroughly enjoyed this one, though I’ll bet it peaked a couple years back. BoBoChamp (1445), Gent, Belgium

Pours a dark cherry / maroon color; light-pink head with decent retention and solid, fine-bubbled lacing. Lots of funk, sour dark cherries, citrus, and jaw-clenching acidity in the aroma; good levels of complexity, horseblanket, and sourness; mouthwatering. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: lively carbonation; lots of clenching sourness and citrus acidity at the front; ripe black cherries, lemons, and a touch of toasted oakiness at the core; nicely composed, well-soured kriek. Lengthy, sour finish: loads of lasting tartness, dark cherries (more of a black cherry character than any other kriek I can think of), and dry citrus. ryan (1781), Beltsville, Maryland, USA
