Commercial Description:
More often than not, most high alcoholic beers possess astringent spirity flavours, detracting from the other aspects of the beer. The reverse is true for the Raging Bull. At 7.1% alc./vol., the Bull begins with the intense malty flavours ranging from the crystal flavour and all its diversity to the coffee flavours of the roasted barley. A slight bitterness is apparent from the Pride of Ringwood hops but the main essence remains with the intense warming body structure. The Bull finishes with a resounding sweetness which, like chocolate, begs for another mouthful.

Pours dark brown with a large persistent white head. Aroma of espresso, some roasted barley, but really quite faint. Some crystal as well. There’s also a rubbery smell, like the sole of a shoe, not sure what’s going on there? Similar flavours, with light roasted barley, nutty notes, quite prominent sweet caramel and unfortunately, some cidery taste. Too much carbonation for this type of beer. Not sure what happened here, needs more roasted grain for starters.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with a beige head that lasts a little while. Aroma has big roasted malt with lesser notes of coffee, dark chocolate and smoke. Flavour also starts out with strong roast malt followed by hints of caramel, chocolate and coffee. The malt really dominates this beer at first, revealing more as it warms. Medium body, although it’s light for a porter, with bitterness giving way to a long sweet, dusty finish. Not bad at all.

Bottle brought back from Western Australia by my buddy. Hell yeah mother fucker! Nose is full of roasted malts and some coffee. Pours dark brown, some red hues underneath. Thing beige ring. Roast and coffee, underlying dark malty sweetness, light chocolate. Solid roast and dryness in the finish. Lightly warming. Good.

Bottle - Very dark with a red tinge. beige head. Medium carbonation, slightly effervescent on the tongue. Roasted malts with a bit of dark fruit and a touch of smoke. Slightly dry finish but only a light bitterness. Quite pleasant.

Bottle (330ml). Poured dark ruby brown with a decent sized, rocky, tanned head which was average lasting. Aroma was of rich toffee with toasted malts, dusty chocolate, buttery caramel, currents and raisins. Flavour was of black coffee with a moderate bitterness, roasted chocolate malts, sultana’s, dried figs, some salt and liquorice in the finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation, a dry/slightly creamy mouthfeel, thick texture (but not overly so) and a good finish.
