| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jul 18, 2009 On tap at brewery. Pours light amber-brown with a moderate head. Aroma is of chocolate malt, dried dates, and herby hops. Flavor is just so different. Expecting a American Strong Ale type pale ale, imagine my surprise at encountering smoke, wood, chocolate, and herbs in the body of this beer! Later, I was told that this beer is run through a “Hopinator” to impart extra hop aroma (Golding and Kent I think?). A really interesting release, works decently. This was a very mild, benign beer. Not bad, but nothing special.
