ryan (1707), Beltsville, Maryland, USA May 29, 2008 Courtesy of tytoanderso. Clear apple juice body with no head. The nose is very sweet with lots of tart apples, pears, golden raisins, honey and just a touch of adhesive. The flavor is less sweet than expect, but still substantial with some balancing tartness. Apples, pears, honey and white grape juice round it all out. Medium body is soft with sparkling carbonation. kmweaver (2121), Takoma Park, Maryland, USA May 29, 2008 750mL bottle, courtesy of ryan. Thanks! Pours a clear, bright straw/golden color; headless, with solid effervescence and clarity. Basic pear sugariness and yellow fruits in the aroma; some breadiness and a touch of cardboard (I’m hearing "must" but I’m smelling cardboard). Effervescent, soft mouthfeel: apples, pears; crisp fresh apple character, reasonably dense sweetness at the core, but crisp and dry at the periphery; very drinkable overall. Medium finish: soft pear, crisp apples, and honey. argo0 (6230), Washington DC, USA May 28, 2008 (750ml bottle, thanks ryan) Small, swiftly dissipating white head reveals sparkling light straw body. Aroma is medium sweet, apple, pear, some tartness, mustiness. Taste is medium sweet, pear, apple, some tartness. Light carbonation, light-medium body. tytoanderso (1198), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA Apr 21, 2008 750ml bottle. 2004. The cork pops off with hardly a sound, so I’m thinking this might be a bad bottle. Thankfully, not. Pours a brilliantly clear light gold with a quickly fading bright white head. Aroma is filled with juicy and slightly overripe, tart pear meat. Yes, it’s sweet, but not overly so. Wonderfully tart and slightly acidic. There is plenty of pear flavor but essences of melon and green apple are to be found as well. The only place this Perry lacks is the finish. A tad too short. If the finish could be drawn out a bit more, this would be a world class Perry. As it stands, it’s damn tasty and insanely drinkable.
beoir (51), st paul, Minnesota, USA Apr 15, 2008 2000 bottle from BDR. it does look and taste a bit like a champagne. sweet pear aroma. nice carbonation with sweet tart pear flavors. I am usually not a fan of ciders or tart sour beers but I like this very much.
