Pours with an enormous and lasting creamy greyish light tan head, underneath the head a reddish brown beer very slowly appears. Pleasant and quite strong fruity and yeasty aroma, notes of bakery, spices and ensilage too. Flavour is sweet and fruity, notes of caramel malts and mild spices too, slightly acidic finish. Good beer. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 25, 2006 Bottle from Super Saver. Medium brown/ruby pour with 2-finger off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt, dark fruit, hops, brown sugar, some mossy winey notes. Tastes richly malty, with a fruity, slightly cabernet, nutty, and brown sugary flavor, plus some subdued finishing peaty and mossy hints. FlacoAlto (2473), Tucson, Arizona, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 17, 2006 Updated: Jul 22, 2006This beer is incredibly well carbonated, it forms a dense, rocky, three-finger thick tan colored head. The beer is a deep, opaque purplish, dark amber color. The aroma is most notably sweet and fruity, with notes of dark fruit like prunes, raisins and figs. Touches of sour fruit notes are also here, with tart plums being most noticeable.
The taste is not quite as sweet as the aroma would suggest, but it has a definite fruity sweetness to it. Notes of raisins and sweet plums combine with a rum-like mix of alcohol and sweet caramelized grain. The beer is quite light on the palate, a large part of this is the ample carbonation, which causes the beer to dance across the tongue. As it loses a bit of the carbonation it smoothes out a bit and picks up a bit of body. This is a pretty simple beer, yet the fruitiness is pretty nice, makes for a very quaffable brew.

It is an exceptionally unique beer and very well-crafter. It has a bit of a fruity nose and after-taste and is just a load of fun to drink. I’ll definitely put this on my repeat list. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 15, 2006 Smells malty and sweet, hinting at fruit (citrus?) Brown body with tan head that dissipates after a minute or so (from the bottle). Well-balanced, albeit slightly weak taste. Sweet, but not overpowering with the sweetness, malt, or alcohol. A solid dubbel. I might be getting this again, but in the bigger container (I got the 11.2 oz bottle, as shown in the pic).
