Everlasting retention. The nose is very flemish. Earthy, woodsy and quite acetic. The flavor is mostly buttermilk, light molasses and brown sugar. Medium-bodied and creamy with fizzy carbonation. Astringent, tart, dry finish. Maybe an off-bottle. Too Flemish to be a double. I will give this one another try one day. PorterPounder (3147), Tallahassee, Florida, USA

Bit of a spicy aroma with some sweet bubble gum accents. Flavor is smooth, pick up some tangy, ripe fruit notes, a bit of tea and some dates, buyt rather understated and muted. Mouthfeel is thick. Decent Dubbel. Papsoe (15103), Frederiksberg, Denmark
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 20, 2005 (Bottle 33 cl) Dark brown, very hazy - almost opaque actually. Malty but surprisingly light in body considering the high alcohol volume. Some raisins and dried fruits in the aroma too. Decent indeed but hasn’t got the same sophistication as the besst Dubbels. 060194 rederic (1815), montréal, Quebec, Canada

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 13, 2005 Good looking beer... near opaque, rusty brown body, similar to weak "coffee" as described. Large-bubbled, compact, khaki head. Aromas started as sour fruits with a beefy yeastiness, warming to earthy, chewy, English-malts. Sour start to the flavor with a semi-sweet, malty center and a lingering, sour finish. Well hidden alcohol, although the active carbonation created a dry finish, nonetheless.

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 10, 2005 Deep copper color with a foam head. Smells like canned peaches. A little bit sweet and fruity, ends dry with a bit of lemon. No discernable hops. Dare I say, a little bit too ghosty. pootzboy (1048), Hawgville, Ontario, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 7, 2005 Bottle: poured a dark opaque chestnut brown with ruby highlights. Large tan cap reduces to a 1cm cap that stays...good lacing....good aroma like bananas with treacle and a light musty note. Substantial malts but medium-light , spritzy-slick body.... slight sour twang up front reminiscent of a Flemish sour red... then a flood fruit taste blanketed in burnt brown sugar...wet finish with some sour drying. A very drinkable abby dubbel
