| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Mar 19, 2009 Pours semi clear maroon with medium lived beige head. Smell is caramel, fruit, almost chocolatey, a hint of alcohol and yeast. Taste is a bit blander than the nose would lead on. A bit of dry fruitiness and gummy like yeast character with some spice. Mouthfeel is that of a medium bodied yet overcarbonated, fizzy beer. Champagne like, and a bit too much. Not bad, but the carbonation was a bit high. astrofrk (218), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 12, 2009 On tap at Rose & Crown in Palo Alto. Cloudy brownish red color with an off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt and some yeast. Flavor is malty and slightly tangy (sour I mean, not similar to the powdered beverage Tang) with some dark fruits and spice, a little bitterness on the finish. Average mouthfeel for the style. GJF (505), Cedar Rapids, Iowa, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 10, 2009 A murky brown with a big fluffy white head. Nice aroma with a touch of sourness to it. Flavor is fairly standard dubbel with just a touch of licorice to it. It’s a nice dubbel but certainly not a great one. aphalo (82), Turku, Finland

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Feb 27, 2009 bottle, pours dark brown, light tan head. Maple syrup and brown sugar nose. Sweet malt and sour spice notes mix to a bitter spice and lightly bitter finish. jeff789 (406), Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 14, 2009 Aged bottle, pours a murky brown with a massive head, no off aromas to alert to any poor aging... Noticeable chocolate and a bit of dark fruit in the aroma... A medium body with notes of dark fruits, chocolate and a lightly hoppy finish... A bit past its prime, but definitely held up well... Not a bad find in the cellar... I remember having it fresh and not liking it much more than i liked the aged bottle... ChainGangGuy (2568), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 14, 2009 Appearance: Pours a clear, dark reddish-brown body with an impressive, sizable, ivory-colored head.
Smell: Toasty, roasty (though considerably less) malts with scant hints of caramel and cocoa. Background notes of fermented fruits and spice.
Taste: Toasted malts seasoned with a pinch of powdered chocolate and caramel. Mild fruit flavors of brown sugar-coated bananas and faintly tart raspberries. Touch of anise. Tiny tough of lingering graininess beyond the drying, malty finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium-high, though airy carbonation.
Drinkability: A decent dubbel that failed to knock my socks off. A note to future dubbels -- socks: remain! Though it did pair well with the song "Roscoe" by Midlake.
