Taverner (825), San Ramon, California, USA Nov 5, 2009 Pours golden with white fluffy head. Aroma is fruity, musty, and spicy. Flavor is sweet, tangy but ends on a strange aftertaste affecting only the palate - an oily residue. Pinball (2685), Allerød, Denmark Oct 29, 2009 golden, thick smooth white head.
fruity, yellow fruity slight citrussy aroma, alc.
flavor is fruity, slight citrussy, spicy (fruity and flowery spices).
ends mild bitter and dry. nice one actually. far end of the endtaste is a little too bitter, like orange peel. Gypsy19 (602), California, USA Oct 25, 2009 Pours clear yellow with a small white head. Aroma is full, of fruit, cream, alcohol, and floral aromas. Flavor has a lot of pilsener-type malt and light fruits. Medium alcohol present. Medium viscosity and mouthfeel. Boozy, astringent finish. Could be a little less alcoholic in the flavor profile: In other words, it doesn’t hide the 9% at all. But still a decent Tripel in my opinion. Overall, good plus. emacgee (1859), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Oct 22, 2009 Pours a clean straw yellow with a three finger sticky white head. Nose is earthy, nice Belgian yeast profile, spicy, mild isoamyl acetate. Flavor is sharp and yeasty, white pepper and a spicy hop bitterness. Warm alcohol and a sharp carbonated palate. Dryer than some tripels. davidm (126), Melbourne, Australia Oct 19, 2009 Bottle 330ml. Aromatic and tasty. The nose has apple, yeast, and also caramel. Flavour starts with light sweetness, then comes bitterness and some acidity. Medium body, and oily texture. Cloudy yellow, bubbly, with a frothy long-lasting white head. jumpjet2k (136), Austin, Texas, USA Sep 29, 2009 Bottle in a Bernardus glass. Pale orange, nice off-white head that lasts for quite a while. Aroma’s a bit fruity, a bit spicy, a bit yeasty. Flavor is definitely like an intensified green apple - quite sweet, with a good amount of tartness accompanying. Somewhat like white wine, also, but definitely stronger flavors. This beer doesn’t hide its 9% particularly well - I would’ve guessed a bit higher, actually. An interesting beer, not the best tripel I’ve had, though - it’s a little sweet for me. malrubius (969), Valley Stream, New York, USA Sep 7, 2009 11.2 ounce bottle in Chimay glass. Golden orange with lasting flat head and a little lace. Spicy honey lemon with yeast white wine and green apple. White wine and honey and spicy hoppy mildy green apple finish. Decent soft mouthfeel and nice carbonation. Better than some other higher rated tripels (IMHO). DigitalMan (113), Idaho, USA Aug 31, 2009 Updated: Sep 1, 2009Pours pale and clear with a big white head, good carbonation, and a fruity aroma. Flavor has some tripel-type spiciness, but also somewhat of a muted/muddled character. Nice carbonation feel; not a fizz-bomb.
