The aroma is spices, banana, yeast, and citrus. The taste is mostly a dry and creamy mouthfeel. Some citrus and spices, really quite dry and no notice of the alcohol. Not bad. Initlal bitter taste mellows but still leaves a rather unpleasant aftertaste. Disappointing for a tripel. Hazmatt (363), Virginia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 22, 2008 Bottle. Dull gold color, big giant head with large bubbles. Aroma is excellent. A sweet aroma of malt, honey, bread, yeast, some sourness. Flavor starts off with an unpleasant astringency. Yeast some light grape flavors. Flavor improves as it warms of course, but never meets what was expected from aroma. Body is medium, but I found this to be over carbed. Overall not the best tripel. nkwarrior (9), knoxville, Tennessee, USA does not count | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Mar 16, 2008 33ml bottle. Not sure why the low scores. Very good in my opinion... maybe the best from the van steenberge brewery. the carmelized malts add a sweetness to the taste. well balanced... almost like a desert. Very good. bhensonb (4358), Woodland, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 16, 2008 Updated: Apr 9, 2008330 ml bottle. Rather mild aromas of yeast spice, malt, and perhaps coriander and a touch of burnt candi. Orange tinged gold color with an impressive white head that diminishes but hangs around. A bit thin bodied with rather coarse carbonation. Heat is noticeable. Flavors are malt, again perhaps coriander, and some floral and/or grassy bitter. It smooths out in the finish, becoming dry and mildly bitter. For hop I will guess grassy. A bit of fruit seems to come out with time. DrnkMcDermott (1861), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 10, 2008 33 cl bottle. Part of a sampler six of vSteen. beers from <a href=http://ratebeer.com/Place/illinois/oak-forest in Oak Forest, meaning it may have set awhile without air conditioning. Pours a pale yellow in a tulip glass, with a tinge of red, and fluffy white head. Heavy smell of Belgian sugars and a suggestion of wheat malts that I’m pretty sure are not there. Taste is immediately heady with alcohol and champagne effervescence, sweet and yet still pretty thick with malts. Despite having sat in the heat of a store, not much ale fruitiness here. Instead, it’s pretty well attenuated and turns dry a few sips later. Had it with some camembert cheese spread, which worked nicely. Some notes of straw, then noble and citrusy hops. Nice version of a style I like, anyway. bma4573 (136), Mechanicsville, Maryland, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 1, 2008 A very good triple. I drunk the 75cl bottle. For triple, thats very important.
The 33 and 75 are different beers.
Sweet and fruity in the beginning, rather bitter at the end.
