Sugar cane and sweet malt dominate this aroma early. Yeasty qualities start to show up too, as well as spices and some light grassy notes. In the mouth, this beer starts out very sweet, cream like in flavor and mouthfeel. Becomes progressively dryer from there, with yeast and ester notes and a rise in the carbonation. The alcohol hits right before the swallow and mixes well with the flavors that follow. These include spices, grass, esters and yeast. This mix of flavors make for a very enjoyable, strong finish to a fine beer. AgentGobshite (25), peachland, British Columbia, Canada
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Mar 25, 2007 this is one crazy assed beer. A more experienced tongue than mine may really love it. There is something of honey in it, reminescent of other Belgians made by La Binchoise, i believe. There is an exceptional taste in there, but, for me, it is a bit ’run over’ by the strength of the alcohol itself. I can’t decide whether the alcohol flavour is on purpose or not. I have certainly drank higher octaned beers before; many with less of a boozy smack. robinvboyer (1444), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada

Nice spic citrus aroma. Flavour is spicy, and crisp. A nice tripel, nothing mind blowing or revolutonary, but a nice solid beer. SHIG (2051), Aviano, Italy

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 26, 2007 Updated: Jan 6, 2008Quaffed respectfully at room temperature. Misty gold with hissing bathfoam suds. Metallic gooseberry snout. Heady apricot fruitiness, warming boozy malt and bitter hops, with a surprisingly mellow banana wheatiness sticking around long after the swallow. Intriguingly fruity and well-rounded Tripel. (sampled as Maerlant Tripel, De Kuppe, 31/12/07) Spruce, vanilla and pils-like graininess. Aromatic juicy citrus, lemon rind, possibly juniper. Bit of an odd custardy note. Quite stinging and dry. Nice. LinusStick (1856), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 23, 2007 Nice suprise in this Belgian! The pour was a hazy gold with a head that was there even after I finished the beer. The aroma was weak but was yeast with some fruitiness to it. The taste was different...yeast, honey and light fruits with a spicy and slight hop aftertaste. Nice! MNovak (32), Woodstock, Georgia, USA
