The Bornem Tripel is the best tripel I’ve had in a very long time, and I find myself satisfied not only by a content palate, but also with a renewed sense of excitement for the style. A thick head like crumpled cotton tops the beer, spanning about an inch, and the beer puffs up with a cloudy, grainy yellow look, with a slight blush of orange. The aroma is sweet and slightly soapy, and resplendent with fruits. Banana, pineapple, mango and papaya develop an extremely tropical bouquet, topped with a hit if cinnamon, as if it were a homemade pie. And the flavor doesn’t disappoint, even when expectations are high. Bubble gum, pineapple, mandarin orange, mango and papaya all grace my tongue, but this time they’re restrained by a balanced dryness. There’s no doubt that this is a sweeter tripel, but it’s by no means cloying, and skillfully, artfully balanced. This definitely ranks as one of my favorite tripels.

Bottle. Cloudy yellow/orange color. Aroma is Belgian yeast, a little banana and some nice hop scent in the background. Flavor is malt, yeast and a good hoppy kick. This seemed hop forward for a Belgian, but was nice. Nothing spectacular though.

Slighty cloudy golden in color. Good sized white head. Aroma of sweet malt, spice, some banana. Fairly sweet initially balanced out by a dry hoppy finish. Alchohol is present but not too overpowering. This is an o.k. Triple but not one of my favorites.

Bottle. Cloudy amber color with a decent sized foamy head. Malty aroma with banana flavors. The strong alcohol is present but not overpowering.

330ml bottle from Belgian beer gift pack. I found the aroma a bit sour, but it had a nice fuity/spicy flavour.
