CaptainCougar (5379), Rockville, Maryland, USA Jul 14, 2006 On tap at the brewpub on 4/27/06: Pours an opaque black with a dense, pillowy nitro tan head. Lightly sweet and roasty dark chocolate aroma. Body starts with a nice dark caramel sweetness balanced with a good touch of bittering hops. Finishes drier, roasty, and dark chocolatey. A good stout. goldtwins (4078), Nesconset, New York, USA May 2, 2006 Draft @ Bo’s: Nitro pour. Very dark brown color with a tan head and cascade. Close to opaque. Light roasty aroma with notes of chocolate and dark fruits. The flavor was sweet and roasty. Chocolate found in the flavor as well. Hop bitterness on the finish. Pailhead (2572), Allen Park, Michigan, USA Mar 25, 2005 On tap: Nice mocha aroma with light coffee. Rather malty aroma. Dark brown, virtually black with a tan head. Nice lacing. Malty chocolate up front with roasted coffee coming in the finish. Expected the house sour taste but didn’t get one. Nice creamy mouthfeel. Best of their "everyday" beers. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA Mar 23, 2005 Draft @ brewpub. Maybe this place doesn’t do enough volume to brew a beer like this. This stuff tasted too much like butterscoth. Maybe the lines are bad. I just hope this isn’t what it’s supposed to be. Some chocolate and coffee flavors but something is off, sour. hennes (932), Fountain, Michigan, USA Mar 30, 2002 Hmm, looks like a little Guinness with a solid creamy head. If you put your nose real close to that head you can get a faint whiff of roasted barley, so faint that no roastiness shows up in the flavour profile. Instead you get cherries and bark (don’t tell me you’ve never chewed on green bark?). needs some balance desperately, either from hops or roasty-bitterness.
