Commercial Description:
Our seasonal offering of our “classic” Scottish style ale. Unlike our Isle of Skye Scottish Ale, which has malty, roasty and hoppy notes, the main emphasis in this beer is on its malt character. “90 Shilling” is a traditional tax designation that indicated the beer was of the highest quality. Try this beer with roasted meats or cheese. Amazingly, it works well with some desserts, especially our Crème Brulee and Apple Crisp. O.G. 1066 I.B.U. 35

On tap with UTA in the NCAA Tournament. Very sweet and very stout? I don’t get it. Blew my mind. It was neat as hell, though.

On tap at the brewery in Memphis. Sweet, very fruity tart aroma. Dark, but clear, brown. Excellent mouthfeel. Medium-heavy body. Well-bittered. Sweet and maybe a little too sweet. Tangy at times, a little roast, a good balance. Finish is nice. By far the best beer that I drank there.

On tap at the Nashville location. Poured a clear dark amber with red highlights, and a one finger tan head. The aroma was pretty much all malt. Caramel and toffee and a little bit of toast. The flavor was grainy with some caramel and an earthy finish. This was a pretty decent beer. The mouthfeel was a little thick and sticky, but the carbonation and body were spot on.

Draft at the Nashville location. Clearish dark amber pour. Toasty aroma. Malty, alcoholic flavor. Cloying sticky finish.

on tap-pours an off white head and copper color. Aroma is sweet medium malt, some earthy. Taste is sweet medium malt/grainy-caramel, secondary earthy hops. OK effervescence.

Had on tap at the Nashville location. Poured the same color as a nut brown ale with a nice head. The smell was of toasted malts - with caramel coming through the most. Taste was similar, very malty with caramel.

Draught in downtown Memphis. Brown pour with a thin tan head. Aroma of caramel and faint roasted overtones. Taste of caramel and brown sugar, really sweet and sticky at first but finishes with a nice bitter smokey aftertaste.

I am not sure if it is fair to rate this one that I had on tap in Little Rock. Incredibly flawed, I could not even finish a sample sized glass. The body was dark brown and red. The aroma was nice enough with iced tea and caramel. The taste was disgustingly, incredibly cloying sweet tea. Nasty old caramel and buttery notes were also in this one. Alsolutely atrocious with some hints of stale smoke. It tasted like they either boiled way too long or forgot to add yeast. Yum, raw wort!
