Commercial Description:
During the 1800's, when the sun never set on the British Empire, beer being shipped to the Far East always arrived spoiled. To correct the situation, British brewers added large quantities of hops to their pale ales. (Hops act as a natural preservative in beer). The result is an intensely hoppy amber beer. more malty and caramely than it’s cask conditioned cousin. The head had a little too much big-bubble foam for me, but the beer is very drinkable. A session brew. A decent amount of hops to compliment that malt. Good beer!

Nashville. Light amber, creamy lacing. Pungent PNW hops in the nose; also bready, cheesy, and... post-coital aromatics. Almost-dry, floral and fruity, clean finish, but with brown paper bag and corky/musty aftertaste. Light body features a nitro smoothness. Still, one of their better beers.

Tasted on tap at Nashville Brewpub. This IPA pours an orange gold color. Small sized white foamy head. Aroma is floral and piney. A medium bodied IPA. Malts are fruity and sweet. Hops are piney and citrusy. Nice balance. Smooth taste. Good carbonation. Light to medium bitterness, lots of hop flavors without being overly bitter. Still has a lot of malt character. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is crisp and dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Tried again at the Little Rock location. Still a solid IPA. Nashville rating follows. The body was a slightly hazy dark colored orange with a slightly off white head. The aroma was oranges with some caramel and sweet with floral notes. The taste was bitter grapefruit and a hint of oak. This is dry and refreshing. A solid IPA.

Draft at the Nashville brewpub, 5/14/06: Nice gluey head on a powerfully dark orange or rust-colored brew. Seductively fruity aroma. Wow ... this is what beer is about. Powerful floral hop bouquet without being overpowering. This is damn near the perfect beer.

(On tap) Memphis. Beautiful, clear amber with a creamy, off-white head. Citrusy, hoppy nose. Medium body with some caramel but otherwise completely dominated by lovely aroma hops (Centennial & Cascade), leaving great accents of both flowers and fruit. Dry and hoppy finish. 280306

Nashville. Transparent, magnifying brass with a snowy, dusty and off-white head that very much perseveres throughout the experience. Linen sheets meet the c-hops front in center, with orange crème accents wafting up. Sweet, sugary permutations indicate the balance forthcoming. Clean inferences abound while the bitters produce citric touches (pineapple, mango, and papaya being those furthers from the traditional orange trait.) Fairly straight forward, perhaps more sweet than spicy, but it’s one of this brewery’s bests.
