Commercial Description:
During the 1800's, when the sun never set on the British Empire, beer being shipped to the Far East always arrived spoiled. To correct the situation, British brewers added large quantities of hops to their pale ales. (Hops act as a natural preservative in beer). The result is an intensely hoppy amber beer. (O.G. 1.062 IBUs-50)

On tap in Nashville. Coppery color. Nice bitter hoppyness that wasn’t overpowering despite their "intensely hoppy amber beer" claims. I’m not a fan of the super-hopped beers, so this was good for me.

On tap in Memphis. Medium light PA bronze. Medium hoppy aroma. West coast hops don’t really kick in til the end, then they hang around too long. Session weight. Pretty dry, not much caramel. More of a PA. Move on, nothing to see here.

Daft at Nashville location: Amber color in the glass, with an off white head that mostly diminished and left some lacing. Smell was a nice citrus hoppy aroma expected of an IPA. The taste was grapefruit but not overly bitter. Light and smooth. Nice local IPA! 12 Sep 05, 6-4-7-3-14/////////////Cask @ Nashville location. Hazy orange in the glass with a rocky white head. Subdue hops in the aroma. Nice IPA hoppy flavor with a malt background. Light body and a medium bitterness throughout. 25 Aug 08, 5-3-7-4-12

Orange-amber body with no head. Palate is nice and smooth, with not too much carbonation. Flavor is super sticky and hoppy, with a whole mess of different hops characters (pine, citrus, and pepper) all dancing together to make a wonderful hop profile that works great. I like!

From brewpub sampler. Medium orange, good head. Green hop aroma. Sweet without actual defined malt flavor, maybe some faint biscuit. Bitter, mostly grapefruit and a touch of earth. Touch of diacetyl. So-so.

On cask at the Nashville brewpub. Nice classic IPA. Huge white foamy head from the hand pull left beautiful lacing; amber orange body in the glass was transluscent at best, somewhat hazy. Smells of earthy grapefruit. Flavor was buttered bread and restrained hops that balanced bitterness and acidity well. Not at all overthetop, but well balanced. Very quaffable, but interesting and varied at the same time.

Light hazy amber body with off-white head. Aroma is medium sweet, grapefruit, some floral, light caramel. Taste is medium sweet, grapefruit, caramel, some lingering bitterness. Light-medium body, low carbonation. Quite drinkable -- an APA relative to the PNW, but the IBUs show that it is the real deal.

Hazy, dark golden color with a thick, offwhite head. Nice hop-dominated nose. A nicely balanced, easy-to-drink IPA. A bit earthy and dry aftertaste.
