Commercial Description:
During the 1800's, when the sun never set on the British Empire, beer being shipped to the Far East always arrived spoiled. To correct the situation, British brewers added large quantities of hops to their pale ales. (Hops act as a natural preservative in beer). The result is an intensely hoppy amber beer. I had this on tap in Memphis at the brewery. It was clear golden amber color. The hop aroma was not as strong as I would have expected from an IPA. It is very bitter and not balanced for what a IPA should be. Not a big fan.

Draft at the brewpub in Hillsboro Village, Nashville. Pours a clear gold with a small-to-medium white head. Aroma of citrus hops, pine, caramel, malt. Flavor follows suit and is well-balanced, sweet, and bitter. Light bodied, with a bitter finish. Pretty average IPA.

Draft at Nashville location. Small off-white head, transparent body with no visible carbonation, fair amount of lacing, and a yellow-gold hue. The aroma was pine and citrus hops and some malt. The flavor was pine and citrus hops, sweet malt, and mildly bitter tasting. The mouthfeel was lightly tingly and this beer was light-medium bodied. An easy to drink IPA since it was not overly hoppy tasting and one of the few beers that I enjoyed at this establishment.

This draft brew from the brewery poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized white colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a transparent softly carbonated dark orange colored body. The weak aroma was malt hop. The mouth feel was strongly tingly at the start and mediumly tingly at the finish. The nice flavor contained notes of hops caramel and orange peel. An OK brew just nothing special.

Hoppy aroma. Watery, shallow, slightly malty. Dull and boringish. Not too exciting and probably wouldn’t get it again.
