The aroma was filled with an earthy hop presence and a woodsy character. Also presence was a nice bit of caramel and a mineral nature. The beer arrived clear golden amber with a ghost white tall frothy head which laced the glass. The flavor was nicely bittered with Goldings hops which were noticeable in flavor as well. The caramel flavor was nice and was trounced by the prominent bittering. The finish was dry with lasting bittering into the aftertaste. The body was medium and with a moderate level of carbonation the beer was creamy on the palate. A really, really great EIPA. Could use a kick in the aroma department, but otherwise a great beer.

Mix of hops was a bit more complex than I am smart enough to understand. illinismitty (1801), Nashville, Tennessee, USA

Aroma of pale malts, ale yeast, and perfumy hops. The malt profile on this is really more american than british. The bitterness really dominates here, which is spicy and piney. Mild amount of caramel, but more toasted and grain like in the malt profile. Clean and crisp finish. Not bad, but nothing special. I was hoping for more a british flavor. Bombay IPA is much better. nqualls (1428), Nashville, Tennessee, USA

Aroma was malt with a hint of citrus. Flavor was the same malt, balanced with some bitter hops. Light-medium body. Good beer. hotstuff (3183), Indiana, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 3, 2009 Draft at Nashville location. Small tan head with a short retention span, transparent body with carbonation, fair amount of lacing, and a yellow-golden hue. The aroma was malt, hops and yeast. The flavor was malt, hoppy and the bitterness reared its head. A fairly smooth mouthfee and a medium bodied IPA. An easy to drink IPA since this was not overly hoppy tasting. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 21, 2003 On tap in Nashville - Orange hue with a small not lasting head. Complex aroma; moderate roasted malty hints of grain. Moderate perfumey pine hoppy nose and a final hint of vanilla. Initial slighty fruity and lightly bitter taste. Turned more bitter on the the finish. Sweeter than the cask-conditioned Bombay IPA. BeerHawk (1175), Huntsville, Alabama, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 14, 2008 Draft @ Nashville location. Amber in the glass with a frothy off-white head that leaves some lasting and good lacing. Decent malt and floral aroma. He flavor has caramel, hops, and hints of spice. Dark chocolates come out in the flavor as it warms some. Medium body, smooth, and a medium bitterness throughout. Dogbrick (2907), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 27, 2003 From a sampler: Orangish-amber color with a medium off-white head. Some lacing hangs around throughout the glass. Pleasant floral hops aroma. The flavor is more mellow than the Bombay IPA, and made it less interesting to me. The maltier character made for a smooth finish. Decent but not really memorable.
