Commercial Description:
In German, “hefe” means yeast, “weizen” means wheat. This unfiltered German-style wheat beer is light bodied but full flavored. The strain of yeast used to ferment the beer adds unique flavors perceived as fruity (citrus or banana), cloves, and even bubble gum. O.G. 1046 I.B.U. 10

(Savor, draft) Medium off-white head atop cloudy straw body. Aroma is moderately sweet, banana, bubblegum, some cream, light clove. Taste is medium sweet, lemon, some clove, light banana. Watery light body with low carbonation.

Bottle conditioned. Nice cloudy light gold color. NO head. I think our bottle was flat and the yeast had died. That being said, it had a light citrus aroma with heavy banana flavor. Notes of lemon and nuts. Would probably be great if the yeast had held up.

On tap, Nashville brewpub, into a shaker glass (no weizen glasses here, no sir). Pale, hazy yellow like orange juice concentrate mixed with too much water. White head is initially fluffy but diminishes into a very thin dusting with foamy lace creeping up the side (like TLC used to do--Left Eye, RIP). Bubble gum and banana cream on a soft but pungent nose, with a little clove lurking underneath; delicious smelling, but for some reason it seems kind of hollow and artificial (like the best, most realistic movie set piece ever, still with nothing behind it). There is something behind it, though, and it’s rather good. Pretty thick body like a pureed banana was added to the watered down concentrate, and bubble gum additive was thrown in too. The soft banana flavors are clearly dominant, and not really balanced by the yeasty notes competing for attention. I would enjoy more spiciness (clove, corriander, orange peel, whatever) to cut the softness; right now, the only thing cutting it is an initial burst of acidity and fizzy carbonation that dies pretty quickly into soft bubbles.

On tap Nashville. A hazed golden pour. An aroma of corriander and bannana. A crisp flavor of the corriander comes out first then fades to the fruit and finishes with a very light bitter. Another decently carbonated beer with a solid palate all round but just a tad(wee tad) on the light side. Very good for the style no real flaws. I might should have rated it a tad higher. Maybe next time.

Really unfair for me to rate because definitely not my style. After consuming, I couldn’t shake the banana aftertaste. Probably a great example of this style but not to my liking.

upon first glance, this brew looks highly carbonated and it looks a bit like it was frozen in an ice cube then thawed then served in a glass. However, the aroma promised thick vanilla ice cream and banana, wheat and walnutty scents. The flavor is not watered down, as the appearance mistakenly gave off the impression. The vanilla, lemon, cloves, banana, walnut and oak come out in the flavors of this hefe. A very decent interpretation, but could use a little more body.

On draft at the Memphis location. Hazy, almost neon yellow-orange with a small white head. Typical aroma of banana, clove and slight hint of apricot. Tastes the same with the addition of a mild acidity. Medium mouthfeel. A well-rounded hefe in my opinion. I could have done without the huge chunks of orange and lemon that accompained the glass, though.

Draft at Nashville brewpub. Pours a hazy golden orange, no head. Faint hefe ester aroma, but rather tame for the style. The wheat malt and banana flavors are there, but the texture is too thin for my tastes. The finish is like watered down citrus fruit juice. Very drinkable and refreshing, but not outstanding.
