apshah99 (103), Portland, Oregon, USA Aug 31, 2008 Dark amber pour, very sweet caramel roasted malt aroma. Tastes of more roasted malt, caramel and nuts, a little dark fruit and chocolate with very mild hops. Nice beer, fair carbonation/mouthfeel. bman1986 (90), Broadstairs, Kent, England Jul 20, 2008 Bottle from Kent Beer Festival, Canterbury: Poured a rich black. A little cold so aroma wasn’t very pronounced, a little coffee and roasted malt. Lovely satisfying flavour full of chocolate, coffee and roasted malt. Nice viscosity, lovely beer. sirPino (625), Zawiercie / Żywiec, Poland May 19, 2008 Rated: 15.07.2007
Bottle brown, 500 ml.
Appearance: The head is wonderfull, like from the draught Guiness or other best Irish Stout, creamy, cappuccino like but reddish and brownish. Appearance is very dark ruby, carbonation is flat to soft, head is orange like, nice lacing, head is firm, long lasting, thick, solid consistant, regular in structure, body is not transparent, almost like the body of Zywiec Porter, very nice, fascinating impression. I’ve never appearances so beautiful off- orange, reddish head, very complex head colour.
Aroma: Nice hints of caramel that are strong, some minimal hints of alcohol, malty sweetness, stronger than in good premium lager beer, plum, dark chockolate, strong coffee, some cherry, cacao, creamy, butter scotch, rasin, some hints of smoke, grainy toastiness, roastiness, low hoppyness, essence fron wallnuts, butter, cream, very nice and complex.
Flavour: Plum, cacao, coffee nose, dark chockolate, a little hints of hops through your nose, burned, toastes and roasted, grains, cherry, plum, mild alcohol warmth, cappuccino, dark bread, hints of dust, chalk, flour, very up-front taste, rounded complex, well balanced, you can feel bread and grains on palate, sweet, some micro hints of perfume, bitterness, finish is long, bitter- sweet, hints of orange, dark chockolate.
Palate: Wonderfull, very complex, finish is long, texture is syrupy, nice bitterness, body is full, taste is rounded, complex, plum, cherry, dark berad. Finish is soft alcoholic.
beerguy101 (3542), Newark, California, USA May 7, 2008 This bock pours a deep amber color from a 500ml bottle. A quickly dissipating small sized white foamy head. The aroma is nutty, caramel and sweet. Light to medium bodied bock. The malts are nutty and a touch fruity, hints of chocolate and toffee. The hops are very mild, slightly earthy, Light and refreshing. The carbonation is nearly non-existent, which kind of detracts from the flavor. There is a kind of sugary apple juice like quality noticeable at the finish. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean. Aftertaste is sweet. esjaygee (918), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Mar 16, 2008 500ml bottle from Old World Deli. Sweet & nutty aroma. Dark brown with thin light brown head which disappears fast. Lively medium palate, coffee, semi-sweet consistent flavor… very drinkable. Flavor not overpowering. Malty taste lingers on after drinking this one.
