Sweet, doughy, bready malty aroma has a touch of toasty notes. Body starts bready and dark caramely malty sweet but one dimensional and almost too doughy. BückDich (4854), McCall, Idaho, USA

Light fruit, moderate alcohol, tons of burnt toast. The flavor is nice, plenty of biscuit and fruit. A quintessential bock if you ask me. Nice tasty malts, pleasant lagery yeast notes and a clean light finish. Fantastic. mgumby10 (1858), Jupiter, Florida, USA

The smell is of dark fruits. sugars, banana, and dark malts. The taste is very sweet, very sugary, with alot of dark berries and other fruits making themselves evident. Not bad flavor, but maybe a little too sweet for my taste. Not bad, but forgettable. JPDIPSO (4926), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 31, 2007 Pellucid light chestnut color with a small lid of light tan bubbles. Sweet aromas of sorghum, molasses, toasted malt and light fruity edge. Lots of malt flavors with light caramel, toasted malt, hints of cocoa, treacle and plums and raisins. LIght amount of herbal hops help offset some of the sweetness. Touches of earth and nuts. Finish seems weak and linger tends back to a sweetened nut flavor. A little too sweet, but drinkable. Nearly a dessert brew. Pailhead (2602), Allen Park, Michigan, USA

Bottle: The aroma consists of chocolate, caramel, and some off raspberry notes. It pours a transparent reddish-brown with a moderate off-white head. There is virtually no flavor up front. All the flavor comes in the finish and it’s not all that appealing. It’s a combination of nuts, dirty water, and chocolate. Rather fizzy mouthfeel. FlacoAlto (2473), Tucson, Arizona, USA

Pours with a brilliantly clear, burnt amber color that is topped by a frothy, initially two-finger thick, tan colored head. The aroma is quite malt focused with notes of caramelized bread crust a touch of apple cider and some toasted grain notes.
The beer is quite sweet with a lingering saccharine note. Fairly light for a bock, but it still has a light heft to it. The sweetness really gets in the way of the other flavors, and the sweetness almost reminds me of sweet cider or even raisins, maybe even something like cloves. Touches of smokiness & even some toasted malt flavors are sometimes noticeable underneath the surface. There is something about this beer that reminds me of cola, or perhaps Dr. Pepper. Not a bad beer, it is just way too sweet, though not so much that it is not drinkable.
