Dark pour. Head does not last. Aroma is deep. Dark fruit, earthy and vinous. Sweet. Flavor is big and rich. Definitely some chocolate in there, but it’s subtle. I think there is a little cherry. It’s sweet, but not cloying. Probably sounds like I’m copying what the last few reviews said, but this is what it tastes like. It’s quite good. I’m kinda sad that I will most likely not sample this again. It has held up well, but I think I should have opened it a year ago.

Dark brown, sweet brown sugar mossy aroma, earthy cherry and oxidized wood. Caramely finish with more toasted wood.

Very nice domestic quad. Not overly fruity. Not overly sweet. Not overly spicey. Well rounded and balanced.

Bottle. Pours a dark copper with a tan head. Chewy with a nice raisin character vinous and slick with caramel body. Light chocolate malt accents and char. Great brew i thought.

Bottle… C&P’sLYFO ThrowdownThis beer rocks!... Deep, dark, roasted caramel-color with a small, fizzy, khaki head. The nose isn’t all that complex; just an ample, malty, caramel bomb... and I love caramel malt. Full-bodied with a velvety mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation. The flavor is all about caramel; and, again, I do love me some caramel. There’s also a vinous suggestion of port. Sweet, but not overly so. Caramely finish with a hint of acidity at the wee end. Bottle shipped all the way to Vero Beach from Seattle by after4ever! * * Video = http://homepage.mac.com/maltajo/RATEBEER/iMovieThe

22oz bottle. Huge props to Hopscotch for securing this retired beer for the throwdown. Pours deep bron with a thick long lasting whitish head. Big caramel nose with sweet raisins and dates. A very sweet quad, with a huge caramel and raisin flavor, tons of dark cherry, some dark chocolate and candi sugar. Some bourbony vanilla as well. Very complex. I think the fact that its from an american brewery makes the yeast a little less assertive that works very well in a beer of this age. This has aged amazingly well. Really fantastic.

Bottle thanks to Kan for sharing this rarity! Pours dark brown black with a white thin head. Aromas of sweet caramels, dark fruits, and prunes. Abundant and inviting. Sweet dark fruit malt flavors. Charred, slightly sweet, with slight oxidation that complements it. Solid beer, especially for its age.

4+ year old bottle, courtesy hopscotch. Pours a cloudy caramel brown color with a small, foamy, cream tinted head. A sudsy wash on the glass mostly rejoins the body, with a few scant spots escaping to dry. The nose is really solid, dark and fruity mostly with notes of caramel, candy sugar, fig, prune, and raisin. Vanilla and gingersnap cookie lend complimentary elements. The flavor follows suit, showing deep and complex fruity fig and raisin notes, amidst a candy sugar and cocoa malt profile. Oaky vanilla and brown sugar pair well, as do mild, faded wintertime spices. Quite substantial on the palate, with a slight, passable alcohol burn and a sweet texture. Wow, this stuff held up pretty damn well. Very nice beer.
