Nose and flavor of caramel, toffee, dried fruits and just tons sweetness. But not cloying, sticky sweetness. More like cocoa. Very little sign of the 11.5%. Creamy on the palate. fidel (976), Livermore, California, USA

| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Dec 30, 2008 Very deep and dark pour with a generous white head that diisipates to a thick and lasting ring. The nose was oxidized at first, but after being allowed to breathe for a few minutes it cleared and was rich with banana, clove, chocolate, and yeast. The flavor continued this theme, and added notes of fig, graham cracker, toffee, and even rummy overtones. It is a very dense flavor, with a body to match, and still quite sweet after three plus years, but in a wonderful way. This is perhaps the sweetest beer Ive ever been in love with, and I think Tom Munoz of the sadly defunct Far West Brewing did a remarkable job of recreating the legendary Rochefort 10. Yes, its not quite as refined, but the liveliness, and good sharpness of the flavors (which are impeccably balanced) compensate for that deficit. In fact, I actually prefer this version over the original, because it has more defined "edges" IMO. trevor211 (518), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 12, 2008 Huge thanks to Vern at Brouwers for sharing. A wonderful attempt at a difficult style to nail. Pours deep and dark, with a thick, pillowy head. The aroma is great figs, banana, brown sugar, caramel even a bit of scotch. Dark fruits predominate somewhat like the Roche 10, though not quite as deep or refined. Great flavor right on line with the aroma and a smooth palate. Perhaps just a bit too sweet, but overall a great brew. BeerandBlues2 (3225), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 16, 2008 GABF 2008, Dr. Bill’s tasting. Pours brown with a small, fizzy, off-white head, somewhat lasting with fair lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (bread, cookie, caramel, toffee), average hops (flowers, herbs), average yeast (horse blanket, barnyard) with notes of banana. Full bodied, sticky texture, lively carbonation, and a chalky finish. Long duration, moderate sweetness, light acidity and bitterness. SuzyGreenberg (1386), Seattle, Washington, USA
