Bottle from jah noth. Hazy yellow-orange body, thin off-white head. Aroma dominated by pear and white grapes, vinous, with light spicy esters. Bready, estery body, even chalky, blending with the light fermented fruits (pear, white grape). Alcohol is subtle. Dry with a hint of funk, but rather bland.

(750ml bottle, 2002 vintage) Small white head atop a hazy golden body. Aroma is mild, medium sweet, herb, apricot, orange. Taste is medium sweet, herbal, bread, some yeast, fruitiness. Alcohol dryness in the finish. Medium body. Remarkably uninteresting.

Bottle thanks to CMUBEERMAN. Vintage 2001 (?). Pours light gold, white head. Aroma is musty like an old trunk, tangy, tart. Tastes like an old stack of library books that have been left to mildew in the basement.

750mL caged & corked, Bottled 2002. I’m a little unhappy that there is yeast at the top of my bottle, but what can you do? Pours a hazy honey golden with a one finger white head. Aroma of some yeasty fruity esters (pears and ripe bananas), musty cork, some papery oxidation, pepper and misc spices, and a bit of toast. Halfway through the bottleI did get some old lemons. Flavor was of some bananas, musty cork again, the pepper and spices balancing the candy sugar sweetness. While in the mouth it coats very well, and after the swallow it’s a bone dry finish. Alcohol a bit warming in the throat and belly. Medium body with low-moderate carbonation. Not too bad at all. Update--I just realized this fool was almost five years old, and considering this must change from my original 7-4-7-3-13--3.4 since this has held up relatively well.

[33cl Bottle] Poured a deep ornage color with a light head. Had a very yeasty aroam with a tad of spices . This was a very well made Abbey and I loved the spices every time something new came out. This was a very good brew.

33cl bottle pours a bubbled orange color with a fluffy white head and thick lacing. Nose of yeast, lemon citrus, corriander, and some phenols at first that fade away in a few minutes. Tiny prickles of peppery carbonation, with a smooth honey body, lemon orange zest, citrussy belgian spices, corriander and cardamon, pine hop flavors. Bitter, spicy hop finish. The pepper, sweet, and citrus hops are really nice together, and looking at the bottle .... wow, the alcohol is hidden well underneath that citrus and spice.

Pours hazy gold-orange with a three-finger white head. Very yeasty aroma, mostly must and raw dough. Some sweetness, in the form of fruit, comes through after a few whiffs and there’s a pleasant, subtle saltiness throughout. The flavor begins with light flowery hops, honey, and bread. It then gets nutty and peppery, finally ending on a dry, slightly bitter note. Good beer, but cannot compare to the better tripels out there (Allagash, Karmeliet).
