In the bottle at the 2004 Crescent Moon Vintage Beer Tasting. This was a bottle of the original Boulder Brown Ale made in the early 1990’s. Dark brown in color. A very solid and tasty beer. Roasted aroma and chocolate flavor. Aged very well for the last 10 years.

Brown, with thick, rocky lasting tan head. Intense small bead. Good malt nose. Smooth malt flavor but slightly gassy

Lt Brown color, med head. Medium malts, lightly hopped. Nice malty flavor, nutty overtones. A little hoppy. Finish is clean. Aftertaste is slightly malty, no bitterness.

Nutty malt aroma. Slight mustiness...I really hope this bottle isn’t too old! Fairly even, standard head and carbonation, but my suspicions about this being old have now increased...there are ’floaty things’ in the beer. I know this is supposed to be totally filtered. Well, here goes... Hmm. Sweet, bready malt flavors with a hint of nut and butter. Finish has a slight amount of hops and an almost imperceptible twinge of sour. Medium body, slightly watery finish. Ummm...I can’t tell if this beer is supposed to taste like this or not, so I’m going to assume no. Oh well, maybe I can find a fresh bottle next time. At least I didn’t buy a whole 6-pack!
