| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 11, 2007 Dark golden ale, with an attractive eggshell coloured head.
Strong aromas, spruce like, with a deep treacle accented malt backing
lots of semi-sweet malts, sometimes getting really "toasty", good hop presence, piney, bitter.
Ok on the palate, not boring at least.
Overall very nice, but methinks the hopping was a tad too much for a real ESA,. Cornfield (4979), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 11, 2007 Golden/amber bodied, this ale has a modest head that still leaves much lacing in its wake. Sturdy hop scents, mainly pine and grapefruit, dominate the aroma, nearly covering the toasty, bready malt. The hops take on a floral/earthy tone in the flavor, some of the pine and grapefruit remaining, and the caramel, toast, and bread of the malts take on a larger role. It finishes on a note of earthy bitterness. Nice.

Aroma of spruce, toasted malt, citrus, florals, and burnt caramel. Flavor of pine, caramel, cardboard, and citrusy hops. Unbalanced in both aroma and flavor. Headbanger (1601), Aurora, Illinois, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Oct 7, 2007 Had this while watching the Buckeyes steamroll Purdue. Nose of citrus & pine, dried fruit, perfume and flowers. The brew pours a sparkling copper. The big fully lasting super stiff & fluffy white creamy head leaves fair lace. The brew is mostly like a good APA with decent bitterness, moderate acidity and a healthy citrus presence. The finish is great, but more session than over the top. The medium body is soft to lively and super creamy. The finish feels crisp. A pleasant surprise. troyc (1175), Lubbock, Texas, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 6, 2007 (Bottle) Pours an amber color with a large white head. Citrus and light pine in the aroma. Taste includes some grapefruit and a good amount of malt to balance it out. Above average palate and a great mouthfeel. I really enjoyed this beer, and would definitely drink it again. danimal (10), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 4, 2007 Bittering hops overpower "subtle English" malt. Almost tastes oxidized. Not impressed with this beer or most others from this brewer.
