I like sweet, and I like caramel, but I also like malty, and though slightly bready, this lacks sufficient maltiness to balance off the sugary caramel flavor. And there’s not a whole lot of hops to provide balance either, though it is lightly bitter in the finish. Medium bodied, sugary on the palate. Lightly malty nose is, like the flavor, somewhat sweet and caramely. Lighter amber in color and fully clear. The off-white head is a bit small on the pour, fades to a thin film and leaves a few dots of lace scattered about the glass. Very drinkable, but not especially exciting, and barely average for the style. JPDIPSO (4929), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA

Toasted wheat bead aroma, with a touch of oxidation. Light feel. Green light hop start with a dry malt middle. Finish is rather bitter and has some more dry malt character. A touch of malt sweetness would do wonder in this one. argo0 (6978), Washington DC, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 10, 2004 Pours with a big fat head full of various sized bubbles and settles down quick, leaving some nice lacing. Color is amber orange. Aroma is sweet and hoppy - maybe more sweet. Sweet caramel toffee malts - thin - then a dirty pepper hop finish. As it warms, the malty sweetness begins to settle in at the back of the swallow. Crosling (1855), Loveland, Colorado, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 1, 2004 Light Brown. Dry, sharp, pungent hops in the nose along with a hint of butter toffee, caramel, fruity juices and perhaps a touch of honey. The heavy hop flavor is balanced well by the malty sweeness. Notes of pineapple, lemon and pine accompanied by a touch of toasted malt and caramel. A suprisingly characterful brew. badgerben (3605), Blaine, Minnesota, USA

I am honestly impressed with this beer. I was anticipating it to be boring and uneventful.. So this turned out to be a pleasant surprise.
Poured a satisfying radiant amber body with a cap of white on top. The flavor and aroma provided me with large suggestions of tangerine, black peppercorn, and the faintest hint of allspice. This beer somehow seemed to capture a season, it truly did remind me of Fall. Somewhat vegetable in an underlying note, maybe some apple and pumpkin, loads of caramel…. The palate was slightly sticky sweet, a toasty malt note in the finish. This is just a very easy to drink and enjoyable brew.
