Commercial Description:
Flashback Anniversary Ale is an India Brown Ale with 6.8% ABV. This is the first beer we’ve made here that uses one single hop variety (Cascade) in the recipe in five separate additions. The fresh Cascade hop aroma and flavor is perfectly balanced with the dark roasted grains, making Flashback a very unique beer. We’re calling it an India Brown Ale to help illustrate its flavor to the consumer. It’s hoppy like an IPA but dark and roasty like a Brown Ale. Put them together and voila! Flashback at its finest!

We at Boulder Beer Company are SO excited to announce the release of our 30th Anniversary commemorative beer...Flashback Anniversary Ale! Flashback will be available in 4/6/12oz cases, 15.5 gallon kegs and 5.16 gallon kegs. It will be available to ship beginning Monday, May 4th and will be available through September.

Paying homage to our roots and celebrating our milestone 30th Anniversary, we give you Flashback Anniversary Ale, an India Brown Ale single-hopped with five additions of Cascade hops. Citrusy with a prominent hop aroma, Flashback finishes clean, crisp and dry, with dark roasted flavors from the biscuit and chocolate malts perfectly complimenting the bountiful Cascades.

Flash back to 1979 and you’ll find two professors at the University of Colorado in Boulder longing for the full-flavored tastes of the British ales they had grown to love while traveling overseas. Testing the entrepreneurial waters with a little project called a microbrewery, they began brewing and selling a few of their own. There begins the tale of Boulder Beer Company, Colorado’s First Microbrewery. From the original Bitter, Porter and Stout recipes that founded our brewery to our exciting new releases, Boulder Beer continues to uphold our tradition of innovation in brewing.

Flashback Anniversary Ale is the 9th Release in our Looking Glass Series of specialty beers. Discover all of our award-winning beers at BoulderBeer.com.

bottle Pours amber, creamy beige head. Aroma is malty, notes of caramel and hops. Flavor, caramel malts, some yeasty aspects and signature Boulder beer. Some chocolate and bready notes in the finish. Some underlying hops come add a nice mild bitterness. Finish is malty, flavor of chocolate / cocoa powder. Tasty!

Bottle Pours out a dark amber topped with a sand head. Aroma is of floral hops, nuts, and a sweet malt. Taste more of the nuts a nice floral hop and a good light grapefruit peel bitter end. not bad but for your 30th Anniversary you would think maybe something over the top.

Well lemme tell a story bout a hopped up brew. Bottle in trade with the Bonster. Bready nose with a paralell hop charge. Body is moderate and is a deep copper with a normal white head. Body is true to from and has hints of chocolate and a strudy base of english ale. The intense hop schedule of good old cascade (Go Hops!) makes this a brew of two types...reserved Englinsh ale and a in your face unexpected IPA. Nifty.

12 oz bottle. Pours a brown color with a small whitish head. Aroma is malt sweetness, with touches of roasted flavors and a nice, solid hop touches! Flavor is a interesting mix of hoppy flavor with the strength of brown ale.

Brown pour with an off white head. Aroma is sweet and malty. Flavor is really pleasant with a nice malt sweetness and slight hop bitterness. Sweet but not over the top. Medium body.

4 oz pour at the Oregon Brewers Festival in July ’09. Sweet, malty, and a load of hops. A great balance and almost a Belgian style ale than a brown. One of my favorite of the festival.

Bottle. O how I love thee...hoppy, sweet, malty, and nutty. Pours a captivating deep copper. So inviting....Just the right bitterness, the alcohol is well hidden. A stylistic gem.

Draft at Blind Tiger Ale House. Pours coppery brown. Nose is full of C-hops, citrus and pine. Not a lot of malt in the nose, but taste has some interesting roasted notes that do compliment the C-hops. Not particularly complex, but a very nice and accessible beer. Good.
