Nose was caramel malts with citrus hops. Medium mouthfeel, and a mild bitterness mixed into fruits. Alcohol a bit too apparent. Long bitter finish. I think this could have been a little warmer when I drank it for top performance. pnista (1008), Bloomington, Indiana, USA

Pours a rich clear crisp burgundy reddish brown with a dense light tan creamy head. The nose is very lightly sweet with subdued malt. A bit more toasty than caramelly. A bit of a citrus rind hop note. A bit oaky and dusty with a touch of bootleather. Subdued carbonation with a bit of viscosity, but not nearly enough for the style, in my opinion. A bit more sticky than creamy or smooth. A good bit tannic overriding the low malt profile. Much more toast than caramel. A good measure of alcohol. A bit of soapy citrusy hops. Dry and not so sweet or round as I’d hope a barleywine to be. The alcohol forward dryness is more in line with an american strong ale, especially given the bits of dark malt in this beer. Toast and slight roast. A good bit of oaky cherry in the finish. Long and dry lingering aftertaste of toast. Not the greatest barleywine I’ve had, I’ll put it that way.I don’t know if age would have helped. nolankowal (854), Columbus, Ohio, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Nov 13, 2007 Pours lite coffee brown w/ a full, semi creamy froth. Good hangtime receding to a full thick canopy and ring. Aromas are sweet w/ rasins and cakebread. Full nectar w/ creamy residual effers. Nice! Huge toasted chocolate cakebread steals the show. Bread pudding with white grapes comes to mind. This is an interesting specimen. Only midly bittered at best w/ a touch of peachpit. Nuances of cherry, plumb, and cocoa compliment this well made brew. The finish is long and sweet w/ lingering cakebread. RSRIZZO (1369), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Sep 18, 2007 Updated: Feb 2, 2008Had this beer on 1/2/2006. Aroma is a deep rich sweet malt scent. Color is a brown amber with light carbonation and a very thin head. Taste is smooth and sweet. Starting off with a medium body it goes down with a very smooth feel. The finish comes out easy with light sweet tones of malt backed by a gentle bitterness and leaves you with a warm alcohol feel. Its a bit lighter then other Barley Wines and a bit more drinkable.
2/2/08 - 2007’ bottleing.Aroma is a rich sweet scent with dried orange tones. Color is deep rich orange amber with slow carbonation making it look like it may be thick. Head is thin but tight. Taste is rich yet clean. Starting with a medium body it goes down crisp. Finish comes in with a sweet dried fruit flavor then a faint citrus taste and an alcohol feel. In the after taste is this wonderful dried orange peel flavor that rides out the alcohol feel. This is the best this beer has ever been mcbackus (755), Merritt Island, Florida, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 16, 2007 2006 Bomber from kmweaver. Thanks Ken. Pours with little to no head, except for a small bubble ring around the edge of the glass. Deep amber color with high clarity. Buttery melanoidal malt aroma. Flavor is still a bit sharp, despite the year of age. Sweet, medium to low hop bitterness of the grapefruit variety. Alchohol presents itself. Not well hidden, but not bad either. Best with cheese. I like this much better than the breakfast stout I had yesterday. mgumby10 (1858), Jupiter, Florida, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 3, 2007 Pours a clear copper amber with a big, light tan head . Smells of big dark fruits, malts, berries, and maybe some plums. The taste is pretty big on the alcohol, the malts and dark fruits reign supreme in the taste as well. Kind of thin on the palate, maybe a touch watery, but not too bad. Fruity sweet finish with a mildly bitter aftertaste. Pretty unintereting barleywine. Nothing special about it at all.
