Good barleywine flavor with some sweetness and caramel. Fairly high octane, which I always appreciate. Was a good blend of hops and malt. A good transition beer if you are not used to barleywines. Arayaga2 (981), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

Poured clear amber with an average frothy white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Heavy toasted tart citrus and alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a sticky texture and soft carbonation. Medium balanced flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Drinkable not great beer. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Nov 27, 2006 2006 Bottle. Pours ruby red cranberry with an aroma of strawberry and peach wine. Notes of strawberry, raisin, and plumb round out the taste. Coats the tongue like a thick cough syrup. Not bad, but needs a tad more assertiveness; relatively tame barley wine.
