raymow (736), Bensalem, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 2, 2007 A bit overly hoppy for my taste (but right in line with most of today’s super-hoppy IPA’s). I didn’t like it at all at first but as it warmed a bit it got better.
JaffaHawk23 (20), Broomfield, Colorado, USA Sep 4, 2008 Not my favorite IPA but it certainly is easy to drink and is overall very satisfying. I snuck my last three onto the golf course last night and they went down smooth with the 9 holes that I played. Nice flavor with the hops bite that you look for. Just a very good IPA to drink with anything. fakepurseninja (490), Sammamish, Washington, USA Sep 3, 2008 Really nice looking, hazy straw golden body with a nice big head. Seemed almost hop-charged english style IPA, with a very slight sweet caramel and cracker malt backbone that was a little thin but was pretty well balanced with a nice crisp grapefruit, floral hop component.. CanIHave4Beers (173), Des Moines, Iowa, USA Sep 2, 2008 A very nice beer indeed. Pours clear golden color with a big fluffy head that leaves lace. Smells of spicy & floral hops (of course) The flavor is dominated by the spiciness of the Amarillo’s but there is also a great fruitiness going on here with some grapefruit bitterness, surprisingly though there is a sweetness in this beer that may be a little much for me.
Drinks easily, I had a Bud-only drinker share this bottle with me and he never once had a problem with the smoothness of the beer.
Overall it is nice, not sure I would buy a six pack, but I would throw it in a mix and match no doubt.
waolsen (963), Littleton, Colorado, USA Sep 1, 2008 bottle, cant believe i havent rated this one yet. golden/copper pour. thin frothy head. lascing. aroma is fresh citrus hops and sweet malts. nicely hopped. light caramel malts. almost a little thin. mild lingering bitterness. FlssmrBrewAlum (205), South Chicago Suburbs, Illinois, USA Aug 30, 2008 12 oz bottle from Charleston’s (New Lenox, IL) poured into a tulip-esque glass. Pours a decent hazy amber, small white head with some nice flowery hop aromas. Initial is nice, if a bit bland from expected. I know it’s typical to expect and want a hop bomb or atleast a strong dose of both malt and hops, but this just isn’t quite up to par with my expectations. Taste is a little bitter up front with some grapefruit citrusy hoppiness, leaving the back end open to some more malt that clouds the hoppiness I really enjoy. A nice malt profile that puts the hops to shame. Decent, but not up to par.
