Commercial Description:
Only 120 precious barrels were brewed, adding more than half a ton of extra malt and twice the amount of Amarillo hops, so prepare your self for a full sensory explosion. The double dry-hop addition elevates the grapefruit-like aroma and flavor to an outrageous intensity, while the added malt raises the alcohol level from 7% all the way to 10% by volume.

Tons of grapefruity hops to it with a nice dry finish. The body doesn’t really support all the hops, though. It’s a bit thin for the style. Good double ipa, not great.

Bottle from Canals. Clear copper/golden color with a medium sized white head. Citrus pine aroma. The flavor is pine right up front with a citrus ending. A little thin but still good.

A wonderful IPA, full body with malt and hops. Bitter, mouthy, fruity hops work well, and strong ABV.

Bottle in trade from oxymoron. Thanks!
Pours a nice bright orange with smallish white head. Smell is fresh bright and citrusy with orange. Taste is citrusy with sweet orange and moderate bitterness. Some alcohol flavor in there too which hinders it. A bit too alcoholic tasting, but otherwise nice.

Hazy amber with a thin white head. Aroma of floral and citrus hops, resin and pine. Taste…. Holy hops. Floral, pine, citrus, orange. Semi-bitter finish but seems fairly balanced even with the over abundance of hops.

Sampled at the 2008 Music City Brewers Fest. Orange with a creamy off-white head that left good lacing. Nice floral and grapefruit aroma from this one. Monster hop flavors of grapefruit and pine with an enjoyable caramel malt backing. Medium to full body with moderate bitterness throughout. Very nice DIPA!

Draft at the brewpub. A hazy golden beer with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet with strong grassy notes of hops. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of grass and hops as well as lighter notes of grapefruit and an alcohol note showing up very late and which also burns lightly in the throat.

Rating #300. Pours amber with one finger white frothy lasting head. Lacing is elegant. Aroma is quite grassy, floral, and loaded with grapefruit. Flavor is powerful and in your face, but suprisingly managable. Lots of floral and grassy hops with a bit of a sweeter malty aspect. Palate is a bit thin, but quite smooth and drinkable. Coating, sticky, and resinous. A nice example of an extreme style.
