Commercial Description:
Only 120 precious barrels were brewed, adding more than half a ton of extra malt and twice the amount of Amarillo hops, so prepare your self for a full sensory explosion. The double dry-hop addition elevates the grapefruit-like aroma and flavor to an outrageous intensity, while the added malt raises the alcohol level from 7% all the way to 10% by volume.

Tap at Spring Lounge. Pours a deep hazy golden amber colour. Aroma is very fresh and hoppy with lots of orange peel, grapefruit and a rich resiny hoppiness. Quite fruity and sweet with a nice hoppiness. Nice IIPA. Light juicy and spicy with some lingering muskiness and citrus character.

Pours a crystal clear light orange with a pretty, fluffy, off-white head that laces well. The nose is a bright citrus with a light caramel backing. Medium-bodied and lightly creamy with a solid, bitter, finish & a touch of alcohol warmth. Grapefruit & blood fruit over a sweet, caramel, malty body. It finishes with a nice balance between bitter, resinous hops & sugary malt notes. This is a very drinkable IIPA,, and at less than $4 a bomber, it’s a very economical hops delivery vehicle.

I had this one on draught at Brouwers and in a bottle that had been sitting in my fridge for a year. Both had similar characteristics, but the one in my fridge had dulled a bit. The rating leans more towards the fresh draught version. To sum it up, this one pours an orange gold with a head that dissipates to almost nothing even after a violent pour. The aroma is almost exclusively citrus, orange, grapefruit hops. Pretty decent strong hop aroma. The flavor is more citrus orange rinds, grapefruit rinds, with some sweet malty character that rounds it out. Alcohol makes it’s presence known, as does a lingering citrus rind character. It was a a lot better fresh, but not bad nonetheless. I will probably purchase a fresh bottle and give it a try again.

Who could tell this was 10%? Well, probably the bartender after I had it on an empty stomach. This was a super-smooth hop trip where I imagined the Doors were playing LA Woman and I was floating over a field of flowers riding a malty carpet.

Really hoppy, and really soapy IIPA. Astringent hop presence that is not supplemented with any kind of moderating malt backbone. Very suprised to see the ABV at 10% as it really blends well into the drink. Lots of pine and tart grapefruit.

Hard for me to write "just another double IPA" when five years ago this would have been beer heaven. Good nose of citrus, wood, I’m thinking pine again. Cloudy orange. Hops, some malts, and hops again. Not balanced, but only the best IPAs and doubles seek balance. This is an enjoyable slam of hops. Yeah, a little more malt wouldn’t hurt, but the caramel ambers are there.

A delicious and incredibly drinkable IIPA that I’ve had quite a few times and just got around to rating. Aroma is all citrus and pine hops with not much else. Pour was a nice deep gold with a one finger off white head. Taste was very hoppy...the pine and citrus are big here, but the underlying malt backbone comes out too much in the aftertaste. A little too thick in the mouthfeel for my tastes, but does have good carbonation and hides the 10% ABV perfectly.
