Commercial Description:
Only 120 precious barrels were brewed, adding more than half a ton of extra malt and twice the amount of Amarillo hops, so prepare your self for a full sensory explosion. The double dry-hop addition elevates the grapefruit-like aroma and flavor to an outrageous intensity, while the added malt raises the alcohol level from 7% all the way to 10% by volume.

Pours amber with a fully receding head, floaties. Notes of thick pear syrup, mango, pine and tropical fruit, and a bit of oxidation. Full to heavy bodied with light resins and moderate carbonation. An older bottle, deserves a rerate.

Way too malty and caramely for and IPA, especially a double IPA. They needed to add some stronger bittering hops, the Amarillo are not doing the trick.

22oz bottle. Pours golden brown with a medium off-white head. Aroma of toasted malts with caramel. Surprisingly little hop flavor for the style. Huge malt profile with caramel flavors dominating. Very smooth and creamy with a mildly bitter finish. Alcohol very well concealed. Different for the style, but definitely a nice beer.

Sampler at the Boulder Beer Company, Boulder 10/10/2007 Very hoppy aroma. Golden coloured strong in alcohol and hoppy with some dryness in a crisp and bitter lasting finish.

poured golden with a white head that faded to give good lacing. smelled of citrus and pine. gave a pretty good sticky sweet beginning taste but aftertaste faded quickly. taste almost no alcohol for being 10 percent.

Good amount of sweet caramel malt and a little bit of spicy floral hops. Hop flavor is very moderate for the style. No alcohol apparent at all. Just a bit of citrus from the hops. Mouthfeel is a little thin, but overall creamy and smooth. Not getting hardly any bitterness. Just enough to hold off some sweetness. While the hops are a little scarce, this is an extremely easy drinking beer. They deserve credit for making such a big beer that doesn’t come off that way.

So, I haven’t really enjoyed much of what Boulder has to offer thus far...however, this is pretty ok. I would have to say that it is a pretty tasty beer, even though it has a pretty heavy mouthfeel. I tasted this with BeerBaron617 tonight. It was a suggestion from one of our viewers on our youtube review site. Either way...It poured a hazy light brown/amber with an off white head. It smelled really hoppy...tasted like citrus fruit, but not like oranges or lemons...Sort of syrupy...Heavy mouthfeel. It’s alright.

This beer is good. Shared the bomber with merelikesbeer. I might be a little too drunk to form an actual opinion. Just get it if you see it. Cheers!
