| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 2, 2009 Appearance: Pours a beautiful amber with a thick creamy 1 inch head. It’s translucent with a small amount of RISIN’ bubbles.
Aroma: Grapefruit and light amounts of bready malt.
Taste: Starting out, the beer comes across as sweet, then mildly bitter and citrusy hops roll across your tongue. The bitterness lingers, but it is not overbearing. I definitely tasted caramel malts, and citrus flavors of orange, grapefruit and lemon.
Mouthfeel: Sticky and fizzy.
Overall: A fantastic version of a Double IPA. I can’t say a bad thing about this beer. I can’t get the Doors out of my head, but that is not the beers fault. CheersMate1 (795), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 2, 2009 Nice sweet malt aroma well balanced with the hops. Leans more towards the malt aroma, but still a nice balanced aroma. Nice orange appearance with a SLIGHT brown hue mixed in to give it a darker orange color. Head is nice, but fades away quickly. A nice smooth mouthfeel. I thought I had tried Bittering hop is nice, but doesn’t pack as powerful of a punch as I thought it would. The hops don’t come through as I would like them to, but this beer is still fairly good. A pretty good representation of an Imperial Double IPA. Doesn’t leave that extremely bitter taste in my mouth. Overall, fairly decent beer, but not worth $11 for a 4-pack. Very good mouthfeel. chuwy (21), Japan
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 2, 2009 Yes,it’s 10%alc but does it need to be? Perhaps there’s too much malt in this. Bit sweet and the alc taste is a tad sharp. Stays on the tongue, along with the grapefruits. Poured a semi transluscent coper brown withan inch head that thinned out but lasted. Not a bad beer, but not my favourite DIPA. I really like the aroma, though. As it warms, the alc comes through in the aroma, too. ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 1, 2009 Bottle. Not sure why I got this, probably because it was a Double IPA I have never had before. Pour is dark yellow / brown with a white head. Smell is sweet with citrus and some pine. Grass, typical double IPA smell. Little bit of alcohol in it too. Taste is sweet, somewhat bitter, smooth and easy to drink. The alcohol which is in the nose is not present in the taste - it is masked almost completely. A good beer, not something I would want to have all the time, but its worth trying. thornecb (1782), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA

Rocky off-white micro head with excellent retention. Sweet pine and resin aromas. Sweet caramel upfront and creamy with a subdued orange citrus, hop and alcohol finish. More like a mild imperial pale ale. beerandIT (184), Richmond, Virginia, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Mar 28, 2009 Sweet and citrusy. But kind of almost flat. Strong grapefruit on the nose, which gave me hope but did not deliver on the flavor. A bit of orange peel on there. Nice zesty flavor in that way. Does not have enough of that hop bitterness that I have come to expect from a double ipa. Also being such a high priced 4 pack, I am going to have to say to the guys at boulder lets step it up a notch. pauljackson1 (25), Fairfax Station, Virginia, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Mar 28, 2009 A fully-hopped, and surprisingly pale for the strength double IPA. Plenty of hops are added to balance the disinctly sweet malt in this extreme beer. I concur with the brewer that the hops have contributed a citrus flavor most similar to grapefruit. I also concur with Cletus with respect to the touch-of-honey finish. A unique offering in the ever-expanding high-gravity market. Cletus (5057), Connecticut, USA
