Commercial Description:
Never Summer Ale is a bold new look at winter beers: gutsy, full-bodied and an aggressive fusion of secret spices. Like the first run of the day, this ale is deep and clean, crisp and drinkable, perfectly blended for a smooth ride...through the Looking Glass. Grains: British Dark Caramel Malt, U.S. 2-row Barley. Hops: Nugget, Willamette, Cascade and Top-Secret Brewmaster's Spice.

Appearance: Pours a rich mahogany-hued body with a small, frothy, ivory-colored head. Smell: Aroma full of spice and herb sprinkled caramel with a bit of spruce underneath. Taste: Dry caramel flavor with a restrained sweetness. Tastes of spice and dried herbs. Medium bitterness. A few spruce tips. Light herbal, bitter finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: It’s okay! Relatively mild in terms of flavor and spice character when compared to it’s winter warmer brethren. Which is fine, as some of the ones on the far end can, frankly, be rather gross.

Pours a transparent bright copper bronze with a wispy-lacing light tan head. Aroma of sweet toasty caramel malt and some piny hops. Body starts fairly full with a decent toasty malty sweetness and a nice balance of slightly earthy citrusy and piny hops before a drier, bittersweet finish. Pretty drinkable and enjoyable.

12oz bottle. pours clear deep copper color. Aroma of rich caramel malts and some citrus hop. A nice hop grapefruit flavor on top of barley malt character. Athough I can’t taste or smell any spice, this beer is very well balanced with a sharp bitterness. medium bodied.

Pours a very nice deep orange reddish color with a small thin head, almost no lacing. Below average carbonation with a fairly strong smell of bittersweet hops. Tastes weak with a very light body. Tad f hop bitterness followed b some sweetness. Not enough flavor to be had again.

Dark bronze color with red tinge. decent but airy head dissipates to a ring. Malty aroma of caramel, cookie dough, and prune; melded with C-hop grapefruit note. Taste is similar. Spice and grapefruit combine to make for a dry and almost dusty finish. Can’t tell which spice(s) is used. Thin to medium bodied. Nothing wrong, just ambiguous.

bottle from pforei. nice rich copper colored pour. crystal clear body with a small light khaki head. malty caramel sweet aroma with some spiciness and dirty earthy hops. light sweetness on the palate with a dry bitter finish. flavors of malt, toffee and dried spices in between. light to medium body with a slight tartness on the tongue. soft fluffy carbonation. not a whole lot going on but it does get a bit more robust as it warms.
