| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Dec 10, 2006 Bright copper colour. Toasty, with slight graham cracker malts and full sugary sweetness. Standard amber ale taste...caramel, light wood, vague bread and dull Willamette hops. Uneventful. yayforbeer (647), Orange Park, Florida, USA

A slightly better than average beer. Malty and hoppy with a slight citrus sharpness from the cascade. Maybe some spice but not much. I may try this again later to give it an honest appraisal. waolsen (1222), Littleton, Colorado, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 9, 2006 bottle. one of their better ones. I typically stay away from their beers. This one nicely balanced with malts dominating and mild spice. Smooth and easy drinking. RAYBOY01 (1834), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 7, 2006 I have no idea what top-secret spicing I’m supposed to be looking for here...if it’s there it’s pretty minimal. The basic beer is a pretty decent APA...mostly leaning towards a caramel/toffee/bready maltiness. The subdued hops presence is largely of the PNW varieties...pine and citrus, but in the back-up role supporting the malt sweetness. It has a very creamy and satisfying mouthfeel...and I wouldn’t mind giving this another shot...secret spices be damned! Reid (1090), Salem, Oregon, USA

Nice smart and tidy looking ale, dark bronze with a nice sized tan head to begin with ,however this fades fast leaving slotchy lace.
Spicy hop aromas but rather subdued somehow..pine accents.
Malty dark bitter flavour, then resinous pine notes , and a taste of spice before it finishes.
Rather dry and quick finish , but feels rather invigorating in the mouth.
Quite a nice laid back beer. well worth a pint! vyvvy (2044), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 6, 2006 Pours deep bronze with a good sized tan head. The aroma has piney / woody hops with some spruce and underlying malt. Medium body with quite a bit of carbonation that starts soft and ends sharp. The flavor begins with a spruce-like taste with some caramel malt and spice. Finish is quite dry and hoppy - it has the wood from the aroma and more spice. Decent brew. incutrav (576), Woodbury, Minnesota, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 5, 2006 I didnt pour this into a glass, as i needed maximum brew intake post haiste! It was tasty none the less, and Boulder beers have never let me down before. Maybe it is because i drink Furious all the time, but i taste NO hops unless it is overflowing with the stuff like Furious. That stuff has charred my tounuge for life, tasty!! | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 4, 2006 12 oz bottle. Pours deep copper to amber in color with nice lasting tan head. There was also some decent lacing leaving a trace of the beer that was being consumed. The aroma is light with a medium sweetness caramel malt and just a hint of hops. Fairly rich caramel maltiness in the flavor which pushes the boarder of dark fruit. Nice bit of pine to slightly grassy hop bitterness.
