Commercial Description:
Never Summer Ale is a bold new look at winter beers: gutsy, full-bodied and an aggressive fusion of secret spices. Like the first run of the day, this ale is deep and clean, crisp and drinkable, perfectly blended for a smooth ride...through the Looking Glass. Grains: British Dark Caramel Malt, U.S. 2-row Barley. Hops: Nugget, Willamette, Cascade and Top-Secret Brewmaster's Spice.

Bottle. Pours a medium-tinted brown with a small, quickly fading head and weak lacing. Thin body. Aroma dabbles in earth tones, with bits of spice, earth, and roasted malt. Flavor is a bit sour, with notes of vegetable, spice, and malt. Hops provide a slight bite and some sourness, but are never much of an issue. This beer is all about heavy, earthy flavors and spices, although the latter is a bit too subdued to have the label boast that it contains "secret spices." Is the secret that there are none? Maybe. A bit thin in the mouth, but otherwise enjoyable. Probably won’t seek this one out again, but it’s worth a try for anyone.

This deep orange ale has a brownish tinge, an off-white head, and a thick & creamy mouthfeel. It’s got a caramel aroma with an herbal bitterness and something else - - pine? nutmeg? bark? I dunno, but all, including the mystery stuff, carries through into the taste. Kind of like a thick APA with a little something extra. Whatever it is. Good.

12oz bottle: heavy malt and hop aroma and the same with the flavor. whatever spice is added does add a little something interesting, but it tastes more like a strange IPA than anything else. pleasant aftertaste considering the initial boldness. good brew..

Thanks to grimreeser for the bottle. Its about time you gave me a good beer Grim! Pours a ruby-copper color with a medium just off white head. Lots of lacing. Aroma of citrus, spice and a little bit of herb. More like an apa/ipa mix then a spice beer. My style. Good stuff.

Just another IPA to me. Not sure what spices I missed in this one for it to be called a spiced beer, but all I had was IPA: caramel malts and piney hops in the aroma and flavor. Moderate body and mouthfeel, good lacing. Poured an amber-reddish color with a decent initial head.

Pours light reddish amber with a medium head. Fruity and caramel aroma. Not much flavor. Dry and bitter feel in the mouth.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear reddish amber with a thick off-white head. Moderate aroma of roasted malt and light fruit hops. Flavor is lightly fruity along with roasted malt. I didn’t get much of the spices described in the commercial description. Bitter mouthfeel, especially at the roof of the mouth.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a ruby chestnut color with a medium sized tan head. The aroma is caramel and light fruity hops. The flavor is sour and nutty with a caramel element and a strong fruity hop presence. The finish is long and bitter.
