Earthy malt aroma, light herbal hops. Similar flavor, starts out malty and fades into some lighter bitterness. Medium bodied. Decent little beer but don’t be fooled by its label of being a spicy beer, it’s a pretty standard amber ale. jimmyh221 (157), Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 11, 2005 12oz bottle - Pours copper with a nice fluffy tan head that clings well to the sides of the glass on the way down. Aroma is caramel malts, some roasted nuts, some grapefruit and a touch of cherry. Flavor is very malty at first much caramel, roasted malts, and a touch of brown sugar, give way to a somewhat hoppy finish with flavors of pine, grapefruit and spices. Palate is thick and sticky. This is very barleywine-like but a little more drinkable. One of the better ones I’ve tried from this brewer. Pretty tasty.. KSS (102), Plymouth, Minnesota, USA

Very sweet aroma. Lots of pine, fruits, spices, caramel and a hint of a barley wine thrown in there too. Not a lot of spice that I’ve come to associate with other winter ales, but lots of pine, citrus and hops. Crisp hoppy finish with a very sticky mouthfeel. Very nice beer. 11026 (1772), Alabama, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 11, 2005 Bottle. Pours a deep, clear amber color with a yellowish tan head that burns down to a ring around the edge. Good lacing is left behind. Aroma is fuity and piney with a dash of caramel thrown in. Medium bodied. Flavor of caramel and citric/piney hops. I don’t pick up much spice flavor. Slightly drying with a moderately lived bitter finish. Pretty good. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 2, 2005 Decent sized light orange head with good carbonation. Sweet malty aroma with caramel, squash, spices and a bit of mint. Slightly hazy. Color is a very impressive dark orange brown. Medium bodied and a little sweet. Almost like a watered down barleywine. Thick with malts and a considerably larger alcohol presence than claimed at 6%. Good bit of hops and a little bitterness. More spices also. Finish is a little dry and bitter yet leaves a thin sticky coating in the mouth. A very good brew if you like malty beers. Thanks to Matta for this one. Tmoney99 (4795), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
